Believe it or not, Ruddington’s skies are set to see the spectacle of airborne bears this month; a fun new idea for our village kids to help raise funds for others in need. Hundreds Attend Skate Park’s Official Opening

This weekend’s official opening of Ruddington’s new skate park has been hailed a great success by organisers – after people of all ages and abilities flocked to the special sessions arranged for its launch at Rushcliffe Country Park yesterday (Saturday 14th August). Although the £210,000 state-of-the-art facility actually opened in June, it was decided to wait until all COVID-19 restrictions had been lifted to put on this more formal event. New Community Centre Designs Unveiled

It’s being reported there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response so far to plans by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) for its proposed community facilities behind The Green. Its decision to demolish the existing building and build a brand new community centre for our village followed an online survey the Council carried out late last year. Nevertheless, RPC had hoped that the present premises (opened only in 1983) might be brought back into use temporarily whilst funding was sought for the new building. Ruddington welcomed the return of its weekly 5k Parkrun for adults this morning (Saturday 24th July) after an unprecedented sixteen month gap. It was suspended back in March 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic so participants today were clearly keen to get their running shoes and high-vis back on! Whilst Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun had already resumed on Sunday mornings, for 4 to 10 year-olds, in April, Parkrun UK decided to wait for a further lifting of Coronavirus restrictions before restarting the timed run for the grown-ups on Saturday mornings. Ruddington Says “YES”!

Volunteers from the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) team say they’re delighted that residents have overwhelmingly backed their vision for our village in yesterday’s big referendum (Thursday 22nd July 2021). Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. Villagers are being urged to vote “YES” to approve the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan in an important referendum being held this week. Everyone living in the parish should now have received either a postal ballot or a notification to vote in person at one of our two village Polling Stations on Thursday, 22nd July. New Ruddington Skate Park Opens

Skate boarders, scooter riders and BMXers are celebrating the opening of Ruddington’s new skate park – funded by Rushcliffe Borough Council and supported by Skate Nottingham, Canvas Spaces and VIA East Midlands.
