Nottinghamshire Police say a 40-year-old man has been arrested during an early morning raid in our village on suspicion of the possession of a firearm. A driver who was fleeing from police through Ruddington last summer, before being brought to an abrupt halt by an unexpected closed gate, has unwittingly been responsible for a much more attractive replacement! A man who was arrested and charged by Rushcliffe Police in connection with two incidents separated by just ten minutes at our two Ruddington food stores last October has been sent to prison for two and a half years. 44 year-old Keith McLachlan, who admitted robbery, attempted robbery and having a bladed article, was jailed for his offences at Nottingham Crown Court. Motorists attempting to get in and out of our village via the A52 this afternoon have found themselves diverted following a serious accident on Loughborough Road. Emergency services were scrambled to the A60 in Ruddington at around 2.50pm today after reports of an overturned car. Investigations are underway following an accident in Ruddington village centre involving a car and a cyclist riding an unusual, petrol-powered bicycle.
