Residents and groups in Ruddington are being asked to acknowledge their unsung community, sporting, business and health heroes for this year’s Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards. Organised by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC), the annual community accolades celebrate volunteers, businesses, clubs, organisations, environmentalists, sports teams and athletes in the district and the best of its health and wellbeing and food and drink sectors. Ruddington Firm’s ‘Tour De Payroll’

Eight cyclists from Ruddington-based payroll and HR software company MHR have just set off on a 280 mile bike ride to Mount Snowdon, to be followed by a 3,500ft ascent to the summit of England and Wales’ highest mountain, in aid of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People. Framework Knitters’ Big Knitathon

One hundred and fifty years’ ago, framework knitters led incredibly hard lives. They were expected to work six days a week from 12 to 16 hours a day. Experience Mindfulness in Ruddington

You’ve no doubt heard about ‘mindfulness’ but how about trying the experience? Well you have the chance, as local mindfulness teacher Jakki Pritchard is running another FREE ‘taster session’ in Ruddington at The Framework Knitters’ Museum. New Writers and Knitters Groups in Ruddington

Ruddington Library is starting TWO new regular hobby groups this month. The first is a Writing Group that will meet fortnightly from Friday 5th July until Friday 16th August, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. The sessions will focus on fun, informal writing exercises in a supportive and no-pressure environment. Themes and direction will develop with the interests of the group. Our village’s newest High Street shop is leading a 31 day challenge to reduce our negative impact on the environment. The Bottle Top is supporting the global campaign “Plastic Free July” by producing a “Low Waste Starter Pack” for anyone to download and follow. When husband and wife team Anthony and Alex Preston brought Ruddington’s former greengrocers’ shop back to life in May 2019 as a specialist off-licence, they also promised a range of products not previously available in our village. Last weekend we told you how Ruddington’s Wilbur the Cat had taken to social media and issued villagers with an invitation to his tenth birthday party next month.
