This latest burst of creative, knitted activity has just hit our village centre for the summer – courtesy of the now infamous ‘Ruddington Yarn Ninjas’. Ruddington companies Artex and Ideagen are amongst several local businesses that have pledged their support to our village’s first ever ‘Rudd Awards’ – which aim to celebrate the best that Ruddington has to offer. To ensure our household waste gets collected this week, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is advising us we’ll need to get our grey bins out an hour earlier than usual. Ruddington’s refuse collections this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (August 10th to 12th) will begin at 6am, instead of their usual 7am start time; to reduce RBC’s waste team’s exposure to the forecast, extreme weather conditions. A ‘Summer of Cycling’

As excitement builds around the fifth stage of the ‘Tour of Britain’ 2022 – which will again see elite cyclists passing right through the centre of Ruddington next month – residents of all ages are being invited to take part in a day of FREE cycling activities at Rushcliffe Country Park this week. Kids’ Holiday Reading Challenge

With our ‘schools out for summer’, village children aged 4 to 11 are now being invited to get involved with this year’s ‘Summer Reading Challenge’ at Ruddington Library. The aim is to read six books or more between now and September 4th. The 2022 Challenge has been developed by The Reading Agency in partnership with The Science Museum Group. Staff from our Ruddington chemist’s are finally getting to do their big walk in aid of a leading cancer charity this weekend – exactly a year later than they’d originally planned it. After it was postponed in 2021, due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, five employees from Evans Pharmacy on Charles Street are taking part in the ‘Peak District Mighty Hike 2022’ this Sunday, July 24th*. Thousands Raised During Village Open Gardens

Organisers of this month’s ‘Ruddington Open Gardens’ weekend have revealed the event was a great success – securing almost £4,500 for their two chosen charities. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usually biennial was last held in 2018, but it returned even bigger and better on 2nd & 3rd July 2022.
