Ruddington Shops Update

Earlier this month we revealed how a new ‘Farm Shop’ has opened at The White Horse Inn on Wednesdays to Saturdays. There are now further, exciting Ruddington shop changes to report – and some still to come. Firstly, ‘ASDA On The Move’ which RUDDINGTON.info reported a year ago would be coming to Euro Garages’ expanded Ruddington Service Station premises along Loughborough Road, has finally arrived!  It stocks up to 2,500 ASDA own brand, premium own-label ‘Extra Special’ and branded products – including bakery, fresh, chilled and ‘ambient’ groceries – along…

Appeal Against Planning Refusal on The Green

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal of permission to build a contemporary, new home at the heart of Ruddington’s conservation area [22/00485/FUL] is being appealed by the applicant. In March 2022 Building Design (Nottm) Ltd submitted plans to demolish the current garage belonging to 6, The Green (‘The White House’) to make way for a modern two storey house (plus attic room) to be built ‘next door’ over the current garden – filling the “gap” seen in the photograph above. You can find further details >>HERE<<. Now it seems these controversial plans may yet see…

Further Raft of Ruddington Roadworks

Motorists who usually use Packman Drive to get in and out of Ruddington are being advised to use an alternative route for the next few days. From Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th February a new water connection by Severn Trent will mean 24-hour three-way traffic signals in use on Packman Drive at its junction with Ling Crescent. A gas leak outside Hilltop Cottage on Clifton Lane means 24-hour two-way temporary traffic lights are also in use there – and will remain in place until repairs are completed. Due to difficulties encountered by Cadent Gas, the estimated end…

St Valentine is the latest subject to receive the attention of talented creatives in and around our village for their current ‘Ruddington Yarn Bomb’. Some of these latest creations can be seen above and below, courtesy of Emma Scott, but there are even more to enjoy on their dedicated Facebook…

‘Ruddington Rhythm’ Returns

Our village’s regular, acoustic music night has a new venue for 2023. From now on its sessions will take place at Ruddington Conservative Club – still on the 3rd Thursday of each month. After seven years at The Cottage Hotel, rising costs for the venue meant it could no longer offer its facilities free gratis for ‘Ruddington Rhythm’ this year – and organiser Ron McSweeney {pictured top left} did not wish to introduce an entrance charge. However, having missed only a month, he was welcomed by the Kempson Street venue to continue his gatherings there instead –…
