Evans Pharmacy has moved to Charles Street, next door to Ruddington Library. The village pharmacy can now be found in new, purpose-built premises on the side of Dairy Cottage. The relocated Ruddington shop offers better accessibility for all, including a wheelchair ramp. It is now closer to the two GP surgeries and to the car parks within our village. Council Approves ‘Ruddy Duck’!

Ruddington is soon to have its own very distinctive, feathered mascot – after ‘Ruddy Duck’ was given the go ahead at the full meeting of Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) last night (14th May). The airborne ambassador was proposed by RPC’s Events Sub-Committee to ‘engender a sense of fun’ around our village at forthcoming events such as its Summer and Christmas Fayres, the Great Get Together, Kite Festival, and more. Tributes to Ruddington Golf Club Owner

The funeral is taking place this week of John Pownall – the man who has owned Ruddington Grange Golf Club for almost a quarter of a century. He died peacefully in hospital on the 2nd of May. He was 84. Our 6,515 yard Par 72 village golf course had only existed for eight years when John bought it from original owner Jack Johnson in 1996. This morning customers are busy queuing up at 12, High Street to collect their prescriptions and buy their medicines – just like generations of Ruddingtonians before them over the past 114 years. Arrest in Connection with Ruddington Burglary and Car Thefts

Nottinghamshire Police report they have today arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a series of car key burglaries and vehicle thefts. The incidents include a Ford CMax which was stolen in a burglary at a house on Packman Drive here in Ruddington at around 5.30am on Saturday 27th April. It was found burnt out in Oakthorpe, Leicestershire, at 9.20am. Parents Protest Against Proposed School Redundancies

Dozens of parents and pupils gathered outside James Peacock Infant and Primary School in Ruddington this morning to protest at plans to make ‘a significant number’ of Teaching Assistants (TAs) there redundant. Rumours of job losses started circulating last week when two families reported that Special Educational Needs TAs had already been removed from one to one sessions with their children with less than 24 hours notice was given. Village Museum’s 438,000 Visitors in One Day!

It’s been revealed that Ruddington’s rather compact and bijou Village Museum in St Peter’s Rooms received an astonishing 438 thousand visitors when it was open this week – all of whom managed to see some of its many treasures within just an hour and twenty minutes! It was thanks to a visit by Nottingham Trent University (NTU) student Feixue Huangdu – who undertook a comprehensive tour of the museum accompanied by a variety of volunteer guides whilst ‘live streaming’ it all on the internet. In an election outcome which may surprise many Ruddingtonians, Labour has stolen two out of the three available seats on Rushcliffe Borough Council from the Conservatives. The results from yesterday’s poll mean that Labour candidates Jen Walker and Mike Gaunt (pictured above left and centre) are duly elected to the Council for the first time – with third placed Gary Dickman (pictured right) securing the remaining seat for the Conservatives. Arrests Made After Railway Vandalism

Nottinghamshire Police say they have arrested two boys in connection with the criminal damage at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway site on Monday (29th April). Volunteers at our village heritage centre have estimated that the attack – reportedly involving around half a dozen young people who smashed a total of 112 windows on various items of coaching stock and two diesel railcars – will cost around £80,000 to repair.
