You’ve no doubt heard about ‘mindfulness’ but how about trying the experience? Well you have the chance, as local mindfulness teacher Jakki Pritchard is running another FREE ‘taster session’ in Ruddington at The Framework Knitters’ Museum. This will be followed by an eight week course in the village. Jakki told RUDDINGTON.info “The 8-week MBCT (mindfulness based cognitive therapy) course offers us a way to unhook from the grip of stress or anxiety, a different way to be with our experience. Mindfulness skills help us to cope with the stresses and mood shifts…

Rushcliffe Police report they have executed a search warrant at a house in Asher Lane this morning (Tuesday 23rd July). It was after receiving intelligence from the local community around suspicious drugs related activity at the Ruddington address. Police Inspector Craig Berry told RUDDINGTON.info: “Rushcliffe officers attended the house early this morning and forced entry to find a large cannabis production in a residential property. A man found at the address was arrested and is now being held at the Bridewell Custody Suite.” Police have made the house safe and officers…

A long anticipated new planning application has been submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council for a retirement complex at Ruddington’s Manor Park. It is for: “Erection of 43 no retirement apartments for older people, guest apartment, communal facilities, access, car parking and landscaping” and has been made on behalf of Churchill Retirement Living. It proposes 29 of these sheltered apartments would be single bedroomed, whilst 14 would have two bedrooms. The application replaces previously approved plans for a 40 unit retirement complex on the site which have since lapsed. Developers still propose to…

Visitors to this year’s Summer Fayre were delighted to find that Ruddington’s very own traditional sweet shop has reopened – just a couple of doors’ down from where it was before! Sweetie Boutique is a unique, village centre business owned and run by resident Sue Kosciekowski (pictured) who began trading at the front of Julia’s Kitchen at 14, High Street last December. When the former Grange Bakery unit at number 18 then became available to rent she decided to take the plunge with her very own premises, and has spent the last seven weeks putting…

The owner of Ruddington Village Butchers has revealed that, unless trade picks up dramatically again very soon, he will be forced to close his business within the next two weeks. Shane Ginty says that his shop has run at a loss of £2,500 over the past few months – and that no small business can sustain those kind of losses. On a Facebook post he wrote: “We would like to say a big thank you to all the lovely people who have supported the shop over the years. Unfortunately there are…

Drivers using Wilford Road in and out of Ruddington over the next three days are being warned they could face queues due to temporary traffic lights. Nottinghamshire County Council is digging “4 Trial Holes to identify existing services” alongside the B680 just out of Ruddington beyond Sellors’ Recreation Ground. If approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council, and released from the Green Belt by the Government Planning Inspectorate, this is where the access road to Bloor Homes‘ proposed new housing estate would be. Two-way temporary signals are liable to cause delays for…

Nottingham City Transport is advising passengers of changes to its Green 10 service for almost three weeks whilst Nottinghamshire County Council carries out resurfacing work on part of the A60 – including Trent Bridge and Loughborough Road. This work will mean the closure of that part of the A60 to all traffic and, as a result, its Navy and Green line services will need to be diverted from Monday 15th July 2019 until Thursday 1st August inclusive between 7.00pm and 5.00am each night. Ruddington’s Green 10 will follow its normal route along Meadows…

Read MoreNew Plans for Old Convenience Store
A revised planning application for a former Ruddington convenience store has been put before Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) – which now proposes THREE levels on the site of the existing single storey building. It was back in December 2017 that Barclay & Cook, at 7-9 High Street, closed its doors after over forty years under the stewardship of David Cook when dwindling trade prompted his decision to sell the shop and retire. The premises have lain empty ever since. As we reported just over a year ago, RBC has already granted planning permission for the addition…

Ruddington’s main transport operator has confirmed the changes it made to our Navy 3 bus service in January have been sufficient to safeguard the route. Timetable reductions were introduced ‘reluctantly’ earlier this year by Nottingham City Transport after the multi-award winning bus company revealed it had been running these services at a loss ever since taking over the old ‘Ruddington Connection’ route just over three years’ earlier. It was in November 2015 that Trent Barton announced it was to withdraw its historic bus service from the City to Clifton via Wilford…
