In another frustrating turn of events for villagers and visitors, it’s been announced that a key access road at the southern end of Ruddington will need to be totally closed for a week this summer. Former Youth Centre to Be Demolished and Replaced

The new owners of the former Youth & Community Centre on The Green – which has lain empty and disused for over four years – have revealed how they plan to bulldoze it and erect more modern facilities in its place. As we’ve previously reported, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) bought the building from Nottinghamshire County Council in 2019. Their planned public consultation on its future was delayed by the Coronavirus outbreak. Petition For Safe Crossing Reaches 1.5K Signatures

A road safety campaign for a better crossing point for walkers, cyclists and horse riders on a busy dual carriageway between Ruddington and West Bridgford is attracting widespread support. Paul Fenton’s online petition highlighting how dangerous it has become to cross the A52 trunk road between the Nottingham Knight and Wheatcroft roundabouts has so far attracted over 1,500 signatures. Just over a fortnight ago RUDDINGTON.info reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) would raise its share of our Council Tax by 3.2% in the next financial year. As hundreds of visitors flocked to today’s festive Ruddington Village Market, its volunteer organisers learned they’d won a grant from Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) to make it even better next year! Safety concerns have been raised by local residents after a significant recent increase in visitors attempting to use Asher Lane to park for Rushcliffe Country Park. It seems the issue has been especially bad on Saturdays and Sundays – with drivers favouring access through our narrow village streets to try to park alongside the north eastern perimeter of the popular Ruddington green space rather than in the official car park off Mere Way. Community Centre Consultation

It’s almost a year since Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) announced it had completed the purchase of the former Youth & Community Centre site on The Green from Nottinghamshire County Council for use by our whole village community in the future. Council to Fund Half Term School Meals

Ruddington businesses, community groups and individuals are welcoming Nottinghamshire County Council’s announcement that it will provide the necessary funding for free school meals over this half term. As we reported on Saturday, many in our village, including St Peter’s Junior School Headteacher Michael Bradley, were critical of the Government after a Commons bid to extend free school meal vouchers to holidays during the COVID-19 pandemic was rejected by MPs last week.
