Prolific Shoplifter Jailed

A 31-year-old man, who originally received a deferred sentence for a shoplifting spree in Ruddington and Clifton last September, is now behind bars after committing further offences over Christmas. Following his original sentence, Aaron Kelly (pictured above), of no fixed address, was re-arrested on December 29th and re-sentenced the next day at Nottingham Crown Court after being found responsible for numerous, further shop thefts. Altogether he committed 41 crimes including stealing gift sets, food and makeup – as well as smashing goods inside a shop. Mr Kelly must now spend six months in jail.…

Elderly village residents and their carers are being urged to wait until they receive their notification from the NHS, rather than contacting Ruddington GPs or hospitals, or using web links shared by others to try to get an appointment earlier. Ruddington Vaccine Rollout Delayed by Coronavirus Outbreak

It’s been revealed that dozens of elderly residents at a village care home will have to wait a little longer to be immunised against COVID-19 because of an outbreak of the virus there. MyCare, which runs Orchard House on Easthorpe Street, has confirmed that routine testing picked up its first positive case on New Year’s Eve, at which point everyone was immediately put into quarantine. A community spirited Ruddington computer repairer has come to the aid of cash-strapped local parents whose children need access to a laptop for their studies during ‘lockdown’. Village Market Cancelled Until Easter

Organisers of our monthly Ruddington Village Market have announced that the popular event will be put on hold until April 3rd – Easter Saturday. Library Closed Again

It’s been confirmed that the doors to Ruddington Library will remain shut for an indefinite period during this third, national COVID-19 ‘lockdown’. A statement by Inspire Culture – which runs the service on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council – says it’s “committed to the wellbeing of staff and customers during the current Coronavirus pandemic.” The library had already been operating to very restricted hours since reopening after the first ‘lockdown’ and was also closed during the second ‘lockdown’ in November last year. Ruddington Buses During the Third ‘Lockdown’

Even though the whole of England has been put back under ‘lockdown’ to combat a new surge of COVID-19 infections, our village’s main bus operator says this will not alter the existing schedules of either its Navy 3 or Green 10 services for the time being.
