The new owners of the former Youth & Community Centre on The Green – which has lain empty and disused for over four years – have revealed how they plan to bulldoze it and erect more modern facilities in its place. As we’ve previously reported, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) bought the building from Nottinghamshire County Council in 2019. Their planned public consultation on its future was delayed by the Coronavirus outbreak. Meantime, the onsite parking there has been made available to village traders in order to free up visitor spaces nearer the shops.…

COVID Kits Now Available in Ruddington
The gradual easing of Coronavirus restrictions means you may now wish to take the opportunity to get together with a wider circle of people in our village (and beyond) to exercise and socialise – albeit in a ‘socially distanced’ way. Therefore, if you’d like to reassure yourself you have not picked up COVID-19 which you could inadvertently pass on to others, you can now collect a FREE kit from Evans Pharmacy on Charles Street*. This ‘lateral flow test’…

Read More132 Per Cent Rise in Antisocial Behaviour in Ruddington?
New statistics just published by Nottinghamshire Police indicate the number of reported incidents of ‘antisocial behaviour’ in our village shot up by 132 per cent during the Coronavirus pandemic. Figures from the past twelve months of COVID-19 restrictions and ‘lockdowns’ show Ruddington’s increase was second only to the Ashfield District of Nottinghamshire – leading to alarmist stories in some local news media. However, thankfully for us, it seems this does not give an accurate picture. In fact, for the whole year, the number of reported cases rose from just 83…

You’ll need to register to vote here by midnight on Monday April 19th. This year, village residents will go to the polls to vote in two different elections and will select: Nottinghamshire…

Okay. So we’re talking about the 12th of April rather than the 12th of August. Moreover, this month no grouse (grouses? grice? – Ed) will be put in peril. However, Monday is poised to be the glorious day which most residents have been longing for – when Ruddington’s non-essential shops, salons, outdoor hospitality, gyms and certain other establishments can finally reopen after our third ‘lockdown’!
