Dog owners from Ruddington and further afield might wish to take part in a fun morning of canine-centred events in our village on Sunday. The Friends of St Peter’s Junior School are inviting young and old to bring our four-legged friends along for their ‘St Peter’s Dog Walk 2022’ – a mile long stroll around the attractive school grounds off Ashworth Avenue. The man who has guided a Ruddington museum through one of the most important periods in its history has now left for pastures new. Jim Grevatte, who’s been the Manager and Curator at The Framework Knitters’ Museum since December 2018, has just stepped down from the role following the appointment of a new ‘Operations Manager’.* However, he will continue as a trustee for our internationally famous Chapel Street tourist attraction. Ruddington Supports the ‘Solidarity March for Ukraine’

Businesses and individuals from Ruddington are showing their solidarity with the people of Ukraine by supporting a local march at the end of this month. The ‘Big Sing’ is Back!

Ruddington Community Choir has announced that its ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ will be returning for 2022 – the choir’s tenth anniversary year. Positive Response to Solar Farm Plans

Proposals for a renewable energy park on current agricultural land to the south west of Ruddington seem to have received a mostly favourable reaction from villagers so far. Further details about this planned green power project were revealed today (Tuesday 22nd March) by Ridge Clean Energy during the first of its two public exhibitions being held in St Peter’s Rooms. The solar farm would be built on 99 hectares of arable land belonging to Ruddington Fields Farm and involve installing solar PV, batteries, access tracks and associated infrastructure. Funding Boost for Museum

Staff and volunteers at Ruddington’s historic Framework Knitters’ Museum say they’re “super happy” to have received new funding worth £62,925. The cash will be used for urgent structural, chimney, window and roofing repairs, as well as improving the heating and security at their Chapel Street tourist attraction. The award is part of a £48m national package of additional government support for museums and libraries in the UK from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England. Community Choir Celebrates Ten Years

It may seem like only yesterday that @RUDDINGTON_info Tweeted out an invitation to join a brand new village choir – but it was actually way back in February 2012! This month is the tenth anniversary of Ruddington Community Choir‘s very first workshop. The lovely, musical milestone was celebrated by its current members this week during their usual Tuesday evening rehearsal at Ruddington Methodist Church. Steering the Partnership as Ruddington Networking Resumes

In common with many other activities in our village, the popular, face-to-face ‘Ruddington Business Partnership’ meetings were put on hold early in 2020 when the Coronavirus pandemic struck. With all the UK’s hospitality venues closed for a time by COVID-19, then restrictions in place after that, the monthly networking sessions at The Next Episode on Dutton’s Hill were substituted by fortnightly online meetings via Zoom – incorporating Rushcliffe Business Partnership networkers from across the Borough. ‘Ruddy Kind Acts’ Initiative Launches

For the past few Christmases, residents of Ruddington have benefitted from ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ – where a mystery benefactor and his helpers have posted hundreds of envelopes marked ‘R.A.K’, each containing £100 in cash to lucky local recipients in our village, Clifton and Silverdale. Some villagers even had a wad of money thrust at them whilst walking down the street! Ruddington Nature Pioneer Receives Recognition

The driving force behind a Ruddington nature reserve is among the winners of this year’s ‘Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards’. For 2021 a ‘physical’ ceremony returned – and was held last night (December 8th) at The Rushcliffe Arena.
