£8k Funding for Improved Museum Shop

Staff and volunteers at Ruddington’s historic Framework Knitters’ Museum are celebrating the award of new cash to upgrade their newly established café and shop. ‘Parker’s Yard’ was added late last year when the museum site expanded into the former ‘Gun Cottage’ – between the original workers’ cottages and frameshops and the old Knitters’ Chapel. This allowed a brand new visitor entrance, hospitality and retail area – including a separate new garden. This year’s Makers’ Night is taking place on Friday 24th June from 4pm until 9pm and expands on last September’s event by adding even more village locations to the line-up. It’s organised by the Ruddington Village Market team from Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) with help from the The Framework Knitters’ Museum and the Debbie Bryan Gallery. Schools’ Jubilee Jamboree!

With events being held throughout Ruddington to mark The Queen’s 70 years on the throne, our two village schools wanted to make sure their pupils didn’t miss out because of the holiday. As an end of term treat, on Friday (27th May), children from both James Peacock Infant School and St Peter’s Junior School got together to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. ‘Ruddy Kind Acts’ Initiative Launches

For the past few Christmases, residents of Ruddington have benefitted from ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ – where a mystery benefactor and his helpers have posted hundreds of envelopes marked ‘R.A.K’, each containing £100 in cash to lucky local recipients in our village, Clifton and Silverdale. Some villagers even had a wad of money thrust at them whilst walking down the street! That’s the name of a new Facebook Group specifically for makers and buyers of local, handmade items in our village. It’s been set up both for the benefit of those who live in Ruddington, and produce homemade items themselves, and for residents who like to buy handmade products whilst shopping locally at the same time.
