Do you enjoy running and socialising?  If so, a new, free-to-join group of like-minded Ruddingtonians would love to see you. Ruddington Running Club was started by 29-year-old villager Jack Simkins in 2023 but has only been active since the start of this year. Ruddington organisations delivering a project are being reminded they can apply for up to £40k from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), supported by the UK Government. Moving the Goalposts!

During the summer we reported on an unpopular decision by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) to remove the netting from one of the goalposts in Sellors’ Recreation Ground to discourage people from using it. It’s after some new ‘Fairham Green’ residents, who’d recently moved into the houses built just behind it, complained to custodians RPC that stray balls from young people playing football there were hitting their cars and windows. The Ruddington branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is among those in the Borough set to benefit from extra cash this year thanks to the current Mayor of Rushcliffe. Organisers of Ruddington’s biennial ‘Teddy Bear Parachute Jump’ – which took place at St Peter’s Church over the weekend – have hailed their event another success. Players and staff at our village cricket club are celebrating an exciting and successful summer which has seen their 1st team secure promotion for the 2024 season! Next year Ruddington Cricket Club will be playing in Division B of the South Nottinghamshire Cricket League after finishing second in Division C in 2023.
