Staff from our Ruddington chemist’s are finally getting to do their big walk in aid of a leading cancer charity this weekend – exactly a year later than they’d originally planned it. After it was postponed in 2021, due to continuing COVID-19 concerns, five employees from Evans Pharmacy on Charles Street are taking part in the ‘Peak District Mighty Hike 2022’ this Sunday, July 24th*. It’s a 13 mile trek starting at Darley Moor and concluding at the Biggin Village Playing Fields. They’ll be taking in some beautiful Derbyshire scenery along the way…

Five Years of Free Trees

With concerns about our warming climate brought into sharp focus this week by record-breaking temperatures, eco-conscious Ruddingtonians may be pleased to hear that we can now apply for more FREE trees this summer. For the fifth year running, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is offering residents the chance to make our properties greener without charge. Two keen Ruddington allotment holders are celebrating being awarded both a trophy and year of ‘free’ gardening after scooping first prize in a friendly, annual contest. Sue Hallam and her partner Peter (pictured above) have won ‘The Best Allotment on Hareham Gardens’ for 2022 from the James Peacock Bread Charity. It not only owns all the allotments bordered by Asher Lane and Musters Road, but also regularly makes donations of money and produce to Ruddington residents in need. Special School Plans Approved

The wheels are now in motion for a Grade 2 listing building here in Ruddington to begin a new chapter in its history – after planning permission for a ‘special school’ there was granted by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). As RUDDINGTON.info reported in April, an application was submitted by Polaris Children’s Services to turn ‘Easthorpe House’ at 165, Loughborough Road into a school for pupils with special educational needs. Thousands Raised During Village Open Gardens

Organisers of this month’s ‘Ruddington Open Gardens’ weekend have revealed the event was a great success – securing almost £4,500 for their two chosen charities. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usually biennial was last held in 2018, but it returned even bigger and better on 2nd & 3rd July 2022.
