Easter Roadworks on Loughborough Road

After a number of roadworks around Ruddington at the start of the year, there’s another ‘lull’ in scheduled highway work around our village until this spring. Find details of temporary traffic lights due to emergency gas work on Clifton Road >>HERE<<. However, those of us who access Ruddington or the Business Park via the A60 are likely to be dismayed at the prospect of yet more disruptive roadworks starting near the Mere Way junction from the beginning of April and lasting right through the Easter holidays! Further work by Severn…

Ruddington Roadworks Return

After a ‘lull’ over the Christmas and New Year period, the road diggers will be out and about again in Ruddington over the coming weeks. Work by Severn Trent originally scheduled to take place at one of our busiest junctions last Sunday only (9th January) will now be taking place over two weekends this month. Thankfully this water connection work – at the crossroads of Loughborough, Kirk Lane and Flawforth Avenue – is still scheduled just on Sundays: the 16th and 23rd January. This means the disruption for motorists should be kept…

A Cumberland Close Compromise?

New proposals to resolve access issues for residents in a Ruddington cul-de-sac, whilst still enabling some parking there for those who need it, have been put out for consultation. As RUDDINGTON.info reported in August, after numerous complaints about inconsiderate parking and damage to vehicles, there was a previous consultation by Via East Midlands (on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council) which proposed prohibiting all parking on Cumberland Close between 9am and 5pm every day. This caused dismay among some residents and businesses along Easthorpe Street who have no off-street parking of their own…

What Next for Ruddington Parking Troublespot?

Residents and businesses in and around Cumberland Close will have to wait and see what’s decided by the authorities – now that their views on how to solve the local parking problem have been submitted. It follows long-standing frustration that inconsiderate parkers on both sides of this residential cul-de-sac, off Easthorpe Street, were frequently blocking residents’ driveways, obstructing pavements and narrowing the road to such an extent that wider vehicles servicing the properties could not get through. Face-to-face confrontation between residents and car users ensued – followed by damage to vehicles and near-misses…

NEXT … a Cumberland Close Consultation!

In a move designed to “solve” at least ONE of Ruddington’s numerous parking issues, village residents on a quiet cul-de-sac off Easthorpe Street may finally see an end to motorists obstructing access to their properties. Via East Midlands – which works on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver its highway services – has launched a public consultation* on proposals which would see all parking banned from Cumberland Close during the day. Currently only a short length on both sides from its junction with Easthorpe Street has double-yellows, meaning “No Waiting…

Expect Kirk Lane Delays

Motorists are facing peak time delays on one of Ruddington’s busiest routes up until this weekend. A burst water main today (28th August) on Kirk Lane means that 24-hour two-way temporary traffic signals have been put in place to control traffic whilst Severn Trent Water carries out repairs to the pipe beneath the road. According to Via East Midlands, this leak could take until this Friday (30th August) to fix. In the meantime, drivers are likely to be held up during busy periods. As the work is adjacent to the…

Digging Holes Could Cause Delays!

Drivers using Wilford Road in and out of Ruddington over the next three days are being warned they could face queues due to temporary traffic lights. Nottinghamshire County Council is digging “4 Trial Holes to identify existing services” alongside the B680 just out of Ruddington beyond Sellors’ Recreation Ground. If approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council, and released from the Green Belt by the Government Planning Inspectorate, this is where the access road to Bloor Homes‘ proposed new housing estate would be. Two-way temporary signals are liable to cause delays for…

Traffic In The Village

Ruddington’s traffic problems are always a controversial subject. Long standing gripes such as continuing to allow parking on Dutton’s Hill were supplemented last year with outrage caused by the unexpected permission for 175 new houses off Asher Lane – possibly leading to traffic lights on High Street. Most recently we’ve seen the controversial approval of residents-only parking for most of Charles Street and Parkyns Street during village shopping hours. Even roads around our Business Park are now due to be to be decorated with a mass of double yellow lines.…
