Near & Far Removals Moves!

A long established and much loved Ruddington removals company has itself relocated – but only to a couple of doors down. Near & Far Removals decided to remain in our village – to stay ‘Near’ rather than go ‘Far’ – and can now be found upstairs at Unit 8, Brookside Road following this month’s move from Unit 2 on November 10th.  Elaine Langridge, who has run the business with her husband Martyn since 2003, says the imminent redevelopment of their former premises prompted the decision. “We have been next door…

Park Kiosk Raid Reported in August Crime Stats

Ruddington crime figures for last month just revealed by Rushcliffe Police show a spike in thefts, burglaries and items stolen from motor vehicles in our village – though without any criminal damage recorded this time around. As previously reported, the summer ‘crime wave’ prompted local officers to increase patrols in Ruddington. However, the August figures from our local officers do not include the subsequent assault on a 28 year-old man in Easthorpe Street on August 21st, which left the victim seriously ill in hospital with life threatening head injuries. A 34-year-old…

Criminals Target Development Sites

It seems the various building sites around Ruddington at the moment are presenting new opportunities for criminals. The latest village crime statistics just released by Rushcliffe Police show that, last month, Linden Homes’ ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development was targeted again by thieves – who this time managed to get away with thousands of pounds worth of scaffolding from its construction site. This follows previous thefts of building items from its Flawforth Lane site the previous month – plus a diesel road roller from the Avant Homes development on Asher Lane and…

Should You Sell Your Home Before Looking for Another?

A number of Benwell Daykin clients have expressed their exasperation at being ‘gazumped’, or seeing offers rejected on their dream home, due to not being in a position to proceed. As such this has raised the question: “Should I sell my home before I start looking for another?” Mora Sheard, from the Ruddington-based estate agency, advises that deciding whether to sell your home – or whether to buy a new home first – should be based on your finances, the market availability for properties that interest you, the house that…

There is obviously a lot of concern surrounding the growing threat of Coronavirus in Nottinghamshire. Although Ruddington and the surrounding areas have now entered into the governments’ Tier 3 restrictions – with another national ‘lockdown’ from November 5th – you are still able to buy or sell a home when taking the right safety precautions. It is worth noting that anyone who does want to make the most of the stamp duty cuts will have to have an offer accepted on a property before the end of November at the…

Benwell Daykin reported last month that the property market is currently going through somewhat of a boom. Since then, many national news outlets have also reported some of the biggest property price growth seen in over five years. At our estate agency, demand for Ruddington property has always been high. However, we are seeing a huge increase in enquiries for property in the village and the surrounding areas. But why is this? The freeze on stamp duty is certainly playing its part, with more and more families taking the opportunity…

The Property Market is Booming!

Following unprecedented times, the Nottinghamshire property market currently finds itself in somewhat of a boom says Benwell Daykin. Many predicted we would experience a dip in house prices with fewer sales and purchases following the Coronavirus lockdown. In fact, the opposite has happened! Demand for a new home is currently outstripping supply. Viewing numbers have increased on each available property and with more buyers brings more offers.  High competition means property prices are driven up, as buyers compete with each other to secure their dream home. In July 2020, Rightmove…
