New Team at the Top

After the biggest changes at Ruddington Parish Council for many years, those newly appointed to the most senior positions have been talking to RUDDINGTON.info about their hopes and plans for its future direction. Last week’s vote (on May 10th) saw the appointment of both a new Chair and a new Vice-Chair of the Parish Council: Cllr Graham Fletcher and Cllr Chloe Lewington respectively (pictured top). This was after the previous incumbents Cllr Allen Wood and Cllr Ken Piggott decided to stand down. The duo were thanked for their “continuous work and dedication…

Could the Tour of Britain be returning to Ruddington?

There’s been some excitement among villagers today following this morning’s announcement that the ‘Tour of Britain’ will be back in Nottinghamshire this summer. Our county is to host the fifth stage of this year’s elite cycle race on Thursday 8th September – four years to the day since the last time. What’s Happening with the Church Clock?

If you tend to glance up at our Parish Church tower to check the time, when you’re making your way through Ruddington, you might have been rather misled lately. The most prominent of these is the south face of the tower – with a newer…

Ruddington Green Goes Green

Cyclists now have some further options to secure their bikes in our village centre, thanks to two double cycle racks just installed on The Green by Ruddington Parish Council. The idea of more robust bike racks for Ruddington, in addition to those outside the Co-op and the wall brackets attached to some existing shop fronts, was suggested by Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) as part of the ‘Traders’ Village Improvement Plan’. Julie Smith of RVCP explains: “It was felt that there was a lack of places near the High Street…

Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. There were 3 ‘spoilt’ ballot papers. This ringing endorsement means that the policies on the development and use of land in our village that the RNP contains…

Ruddington Referendum Reminder

Villagers are being urged to vote “YES” to approve the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan in an important referendum being held this week.
