A provisional programme of events has been revealed for Ruddington’s celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen’s seventy years on the throne this summer. With extra UK public holidays already in place for the Platinum Jubilee, Ruddington Parish Council has organised a weekend of activities to mark our much loved Monarch’s record breaking reign. Ruddington’s On The Route Again!

It’s been confirmed that the fifth stage of the ‘Tour of Britain’ will be passing right through Ruddington this summer. The elite cycle race will again come via the centre of our village on Thursday 8th September 2022 – four years to the day since the last time. As in 2018, the Nottinghamshire stage will begin on Central Avenue in West Bridgford and then pass via Wilford Road, High Street, Kirk Lane and Loughborough Road in Ruddington as part of the 118 mile route ending on Chesterfield Road South in Mansfield. Launch of ‘The Ruddington Pantry’

This month sees the start of a brand new local initiative which it’s hoped will reduce food waste in our village. On Wednesday 6th April Carol Jaggers and Gwen Eyre are opening a ‘community fridge’ in St Peter’s Rooms called ‘The Ruddington Pantry’. The aim of a community fridge is to rescue good quality, surplus food, free of charge from local food retailers, gardeners and restaurants. Cyclists now have some further options to secure their bikes in our village centre, thanks to two double cycle racks just installed on The Green by Ruddington Parish Council. After being cancelled due to the Coronavirus in 2020, ‘physical’ Remembrance commemorations are being held again in Ruddington this year. The first one is, of course, this Thursday, November 11th, for ‘Armistice Day’ – with a Service of Remembrance inside St Peter’s Church, starting at 10am, to which everyone is welcome. Ruddington Says “YES”!

Volunteers from the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) team say they’re delighted that residents have overwhelmingly backed their vision for our village in yesterday’s big referendum (Thursday 22nd July 2021). Once counting was completed after the polls closed at 10pm, it was revealed that 1,068 votes were cast, out of which an overwhelming 91.2% of villagers had voted in favour of the Plan with just 8.5% against. Villagers are being urged to vote “YES” to approve the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan in an important referendum being held this week. Everyone living in the parish should now have received either a postal ballot or a notification to vote in person at one of our two village Polling Stations on Thursday, 22nd July.
