Crime prevention is the key message from Rushcliffe South Neighbourhood Policing Team this month – following the release of their latest list of reported incidents in our village during February. These included thefts from the Nottingham Heritage Centre site, shoplifting offences at our Co-op, motorbike thefts and another overnight raid on one of Ruddington’s housing development sites. Reported Crime Continues to Rise
The latest figures from Rushcliffe Police show there was another increase in incidents recorded by officers in Ruddington last month. Whilst numbers are still relatively low, there were 33% more offences logged for our village in December 2021 than the month before. Perhaps the most concerning involves a 12 year old child reportedly being bitten by “a large grey dog” on Vicarage Park – with police still trying to trace this potentially dangerous animal and its owner. Historically our former Sainsbury’s store on Dutton’s Hill was targeted frequently by shoplifters…

As Ruddington heads into the festive season, Rushcliffe Police have released their latest monthly statistics showing that reported crime here more than doubled in a month. Whilst only four crimes were listed during October, new November statistics show nine separate offences in our village which were reported to officers online or via 101. However, this is still significantly lower than in some previous months, and none of the offences was very serious. They include the previously reported breaking of two windows at Gino’s Ristorante on Church Street, two drive-offs from the…

This follows previous thefts of building items from its Flawforth Lane site the previous month – plus a diesel road roller from the Avant Homes development on Asher Lane and…
Read MoreCatalytic Converter Thefts in Ruddington
September’s Ruddington Crime statistics, just issued by Rushcliffe Police, show a spike in vehicle crime around our village. This includes two cars – one parked on Wilford Road and another on Church Street – which had their catalytic converters stolen. It seems thieves target these for the precious metals they contain – such as rhodium, palladium, and platinum – making newer vehicles the most vulnerable. Hybrid* cars are also attractive to criminals since the supplementary electric motor means their catalytic converters are likely to have been used less frequently to process…

These attacks are different than some you may have heard about recently where gas has been used to blow open the ATM’s.” Police have also issued a warning to BMW drivers…

It was after receiving tip-offs from the local community around suspicious, drugs related activity at the Ruddington address. A man was arrested at the scene and has appeared in court in connection with the discovery. The drugs bust is one of eighteen crimes detailed in our village statistics for July – DOUBLE the number of offences reported the month before. It appears some…
