Police Praise Ruddington Drivers

Motorists entering our village via one of its northern gateways are being praised for doing better at obeying the speed limit than when Nottinghamshire Police previously carried out checks there. When Rushcliffe South neighbourhood officers last brought their radar gun to Wilford Road in September 2022 they recorded three vehicles still doing in excess of 35mph along the main, built-up stretch. School Expansion News Welcomed

Village families who currently have children attending James Peacock Infant & Nursery School and St Peter’s Junior School are welcoming this week’s announcement that Ruddington’s historically preferred Secondary School will be made over a third larger. Since the building of thousands of new homes began in its catchment area, some residents here have been struggling to get places for their kids at Rushcliffe School in West Bridgford (now rebranded Rushcliffe Spencer Academy). Whilst the deadline for parents of village youngsters to apply for their Secondary School places outside Ruddington in 2023/2024 has now passed, the process for Infant and Primary children hoping they’ll be schooled here is only just beginning. Neighbourhood Officers from Nottinghamshire Police have been in Ruddington again this afternoon carrying out speed checks on traffic entering our village along Wilford Road. Despite the 30mph limit now starting sooner, due to the new Bloor Homes development, with even a flashing sign to alert motorists to their speed as they pass Sellors’ Playing Field, they report that three vehicles were recorded still doing in excess of 35 mph along the main, built-up stretch. Nottinghamshire Police have revealed a new Constable dedicated to our village. PC Stephen Piper has joined PCSO Philip Evans to focus on neighbourhood policing in Ruddington. Launch of ‘The Ruddington Pantry’

This month sees the start of a brand new local initiative which it’s hoped will reduce food waste in our village. On Wednesday 6th April Carol Jaggers and Gwen Eyre are opening a ‘community fridge’ in St Peter’s Rooms called ‘The Ruddington Pantry’.
