There’s been welcome relief for long-suffering Ruddington drivers and bus passengers this week after the imposition of temporary traffic lights at a notorious traffic bottleneck was postponed. As RUDDINGTON.info previously reported, following a number of gas leaks in recent years, Cadent Gas needs to carry out substantial maintenance on Wilford Road to replace the troublesome old iron gas main under ‘Dutton’s Hill’ (pictured top) with a “more durable” plastic pipe. Council Says Sorry for Traffic Delays & Disruption

The authority responsible for the major crossroads improvement work in Ruddington, which is set to continue into next year, is apologising to drivers who have complained about the unacceptable hold-ups caused by the current 4-way temporary traffic lights there. Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) says it’s sorry to hear about those experiencing significant disruption and delay due to the roadworks currently taking place at the junction of the A60 Loughborough Road, Kirk Lane and Flawforth Lane. As predicted, the patience of Ruddington’s long-suffering motorists and public transport users has been tested yet again in the past few weeks. The patience of Ruddington’s long-suffering motorists is to be tested yet again between now and next Easter with a raft of different highway works taking place in our village. The most significant ones, liable to cause the biggest delays, are associated with the long-awaited junction layout improvements at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane traffic lights*. Ruddington’s Summer Roadworks

Whilst our schools are out for the big holiday it’s hoped less traffic will mean fewer delays for Ruddington’s long-suffering motorists. However, there are some scheduled roadworks going on which will inevitably still cause inconvenience and longer journey times. Motorists who travel to and from Ruddington via Clifton have found themselves delayed again today (Monday 6th March 2023) – after Severn Trent were called in to fix a leaking water valve on Clifton Road near the junction with Old Station Drive. Drivers are advised these two-way temporary traffic lights are likely to remain in place until this Wednesday 8th – by which time it’s hoped the necessary repair or replacement will be completed. Further Raft of Ruddington Roadworks

Motorists who usually use Packman Drive to get in and out of Ruddington are being advised to use an alternative route for the next few days. From Tuesday 21st to Friday 24th February a new water connection by Severn Trent will mean 24-hour three-way traffic signals in use on Packman Drive at its junction with Ling Crescent.
