Time for a New Home in 2021?

Are you thinking of moving in the new year? You are not alone! Ruddington has seen a significant increase in demand to live in the area, despite the complications the pandemic has brought. Over the last twelve months, properties in Ruddington have increased in value by around 9.76%.*  Factor in the stamp duty holiday and there are a lot of positives out there for home movers currently. December in the property industry is historically a quiet month, with most people busy preparing for Christmas, whilst everything else gets put on hold,…

New Ruddington Businesses Open After ‘Lockdown’

When it was announced that Ruddington would be in ‘Tier 3’ on emerging from the second ‘lockdown’, the news was greeted with understandable dismay by many in our hospitality sector who’ve worked so hard to make their premises COVID-safe during these unprecedented times. For now, the Coronavirus pandemic means our village pubs, cafes and restaurants must stay closed or continue to trade as takeaways only – many with severely reduced opening hours. However, at least non-essential shops, gyms and personal care services in Ruddington, such as our now numerous village hair salons…

Ruddington Buses’ Return to Tier 3

Following the second national ‘lockdown’ in England, Ruddington’s main bus operator says the return to a slightly less stringent set of Tier 3 COVID-19 restrictions this December will not alter the existing schedules of either its Navy 3 and Green 10 village services.* It’s hoped that Nottingham City Transport (NCT) maintaining its current service levels will mean emptier buses – for improved social distancing and therefore safer travel up to the festive holidays. NCT has also announced its special schedules over Christmas and the New Year. You can find out specifically how Ruddington’s…

Christmas in Ruddington

As December begins, for most of us the festive season ahead is likely to be a rather different affair to the one we’d normally be able to enjoy. Even if Ruddington drops from Tier 3 to Tier 2 in mid-December, followed by the Government’s promised five days of even looser COVID-19 restrictions over Christmas, the threat of Coronavirus will still be looming large over everything we do. However, a number of ‘low risk’ activities and initiatives are taking place this month in our village to try to get Ruddingtonians into…

Hospitality Hit Hardest by ‘Return’ to Tier 3

Today’s news that Ruddington will fall back under Tier 3 restrictions when the current ‘lockdown’ ends has not come as a great surprise to residents and traders. However, the Government’s decision to make revised Tier 3 measures even harsher for the hospitality sector has understandably caused dismay among our many village pub, restaurant and cafe owners. From December 2nd they’ll find themselves remaining under the same restrictions as during the current COVID-19 ‘lockdown’, rather than being able to open again if they are serving substantial meals, as previously. So, in line with the…

Final Neighbourhood Plan Consultation Launched

Since our Ruddington Village Plan was published in the summer of 2017 another hard working group of volunteers has been taking things a stage further with a Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) to give our local community additional influence on how the village should grow and develop in the future. Backed by Ruddington Parish Council this type of plan has more ‘teeth’ than its predecessor in determining planning policy and outcomes – such as where we’d prefer new homes, shops and offices to be built. It’s also allowed villagers to have our say on what these new buildings should…

Another Ruddington Power Cut!

Essential shops and businesses in our village centre working through this second ‘lockdown’ were among those left without electricity early this afternoon when there was yet another major power outage.* Those relying on mains power in order to continue their work had to sit out the interruption to their supplies, which happened at around a quarter to two – also triggering alarms in some High Street premises. It lasted initially for around 15 minutes before being restored briefly but then failing again for a further forty minutes. Western Power Distribution (WPD) has confirmed 1,985…

Ruddington’s First Multi-Storey Car Park Opens

It was just over two years’ ago when RUDDINGTON.info reported plans to build a four-storey car park at Ruddington Fields Business Park. After a slight redesign during the planning approval process, it has now been officially opened. However, this parking is not for public use, but for staff and visitors to the headquarters of MHR Global – the Ruddington based HR, payroll and analytics provider. It’s part of a major building expansion project which began with the opening of ‘Wellington House’ – which houses MHR’s software teams. This was followed by a £3million refurbishment…
