Nottinghamshire Police have revealed two suspects were arrested in our village within the space of a few minutes this week thanks to a new crackdown on car thefts. Operational Support and Response officers have stepped up targeted patrols around the Edwalton area, following a recent rise in vehicle theft reports there, and were carrying out one such patrol when a car was taken from a local driveway. Rushcliffe Police are asking any villagers with further information to come forward following the arrest in Ruddington of two men with a large quantity of drugs. Officers were called to Asher Lane at around 11.15am last Wednesday, 4th October, following reports a car was being driven across farming land before becoming stuck. Nottinghamshire Police have launched an appeal for information after a fight broke out between a group of women inside one of our village pubs. Officers were called to The Red Lion on Easthorpe Street last Friday night (10th February) at around 11.30pm when it was reported seven women were fighting and throwing glasses at each other. Nottinghamshire Police are investigating after a disturbance in Ruddington this week during which it’s alleged two teenage boys chased and menaced two girls with a knife. Three suspected thieves have been caught, and two stolen vehicles recovered, after what Nottinghamshire Police are calling “fantastic police teamwork”. Catalytic Converter Thefts in Ruddington

September’s Ruddington Crime statistics, just issued by Rushcliffe Police, show a spike in vehicle crime around our village. This includes two cars – one parked on Wilford Road and another on Church Street – which had their catalytic converters stolen. It seems thieves target these for the precious metals they contain – such as rhodium, palladium, and platinum – making newer vehicles the most vulnerable. New figures just released show that vehicle crime was again the most prevalent problem in our village during May 2020 – even though the total number of offences logged by Rushcliffe Police was lower than the month before. This week saw the first use of state-of-the-art ‘Eye in the Sky’ technology by Rushcliffe Police – leading almost immediately to two suspected criminals being caught. Nottinghamshire Police say they have arrested two boys in connection with the criminal damage at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway site on Monday (29th April).
