Rushcliffe Borough Council is promising even more focus on tackling the nuisance of fly-tipping, waste offences, littering and dog fouling in 2021, thanks to a new partnership. The authority has revealed it’s teamed up with Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) for a one-year trial to build on its existing tools to find and, where necessary, prosecute those who flout the rules. WISE is a specialist supplier of environmental crime services to councils across the UK. Since Tuesday (January 5th) the new Enforcement Officers have had the powers to issue fixed penalty…

Ruddington Buses During the Third ‘Lockdown’
Even though the whole of England has been put back under ‘lockdown’ to combat a new surge of COVID-19 infections, our village’s main bus operator says this will not alter the existing schedules of either its Navy 3 or Green 10 services for the time being. With our schools now unexpectedly closed again, Nottingham City Transport (NCT) says the only buses which will not run are those specifically to accommodate extra travelling schoolchildren – such as the term time Navy 3 15:30 weekday service from Wilford Lane (ROKO) to the City. NCT hopes that, by otherwise maintaining its current…
Read MoreNew Year – New Path
With Ruddington entering 2021 under ‘stay at home’ Tier 4 Coronavirus restrictions, at least unlimited outdoor exercise close to home is still permitted. The footpath work recently completed by Via East Midlands should make progress easier for local walkers. RUDDINGTON.info reported in November 2018 that residents from the Pasture Lane estates were celebrating the completion of a long awaited tarmac surface on ‘Footpath Number 5 – which links 50 Steps Bridge from over the railway line to Vicarage Park – meaning years of wading along a quagmire would finally be a thing of…
Read MoreRuddington’s Festive Snow
It’s not very frequently we get snow within the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ in our part of the East Midlands. However, villagers awoke to the first significant snowfall of the winter this morning – much to the delight of our younger residents. As the photographs above taken by Sarah Godfrey demonstrate, Ruddington was ready! Perkins Hardware was open bright and early and doing a roaring trade in sledges, 6 year-old Edwin was out in front of St Peter’s Rooms’ Christmas display building ‘Jerry’ the snowman, whilst our new shopping precinct…
Read MoreWALK #4 – Ruddington to Bradmore – and back
This is the fourth walk in the series – and we have already headed south, north and west – so this stroll takes in countryside to the east of Ruddington, around the pretty village of Bradmore. The walk takes about three hours and is about four and a half miles long. Unlike the previous walks, there are no nature trails or country parks, but paths and tracks across open countryside and farmland, so please ensure that you are wearing sturdy footwear, or preferably good quality hiking boots. As with all the…
Read MoreStay Safe in our Play Areas this Christmas
Residents and visitors to Rushcliffe Country Park and other public open spaces and play areas in Ruddington are being reminded to follow simple steps to have fun safely through the festive season. Rushcliffe Borough Council anticipates its Country Parks in particular will remain very popular over the holidays, as villagers and visitors feel the need to get regular exercise and fresh air to assist with both our physical and mental health. Additionally, we are still only able to meet up with others in public open spaces under with continuing Tier 3…

Every year shoppers at our village Co-op help to provide much needed cash for three local good causes via their ‘Local Community Fund’. During the last funding year, the Ruddington branch handed out a total of £11,458.25 to local projects in need via ‘The Big Co-op Payout’ – split between Ruddington District Girl Guiding, NG11 Foodbank and Together@Clifton. Sandy Flavill and Sally Beards of Ruddington Girlguiding are pictured (top) receiving their cheque for £3737.37 from store manager Chris Bradbury. When Co-op members buy selected Co‑op products and services, the shop gives back 2p for every…
Read MoreWelcome to Our ‘New’ Willow
It’s now ten months since ‘Storm Ciara’ battered Ruddington from the early hours of one Sunday morning (9th February 2020) with gusts of up to 60mph during the day – accompanied by a period of torrential rain – causing structural damage to village properties and felling or breaking several of our large trees. Among those residents devastated to see that one of these casualties was the much loved old Willow on The Green were Austin and Anne Shaw. A subsequent assessment on behalf of Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) discovered the…
Read MoreFinal Neighbourhood Plan Consultation Launched
Since our Ruddington Village Plan was published in the summer of 2017 another hard working group of volunteers has been taking things a stage further with a Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) to give our local community additional influence on how the village should grow and develop in the future. Backed by Ruddington Parish Council this type of plan has more ‘teeth’ than its predecessor in determining planning policy and outcomes – such as where we’d prefer new homes, shops and offices to be built. It’s also allowed villagers to have our say on what these new buildings should…
Read MoreRuddington’s First Multi-Storey Car Park Opens
It was just over two years’ ago when RUDDINGTON.info reported plans to build a four-storey car park at Ruddington Fields Business Park. After a slight redesign during the planning approval process, it has now been officially opened. However, this parking is not for public use, but for staff and visitors to the headquarters of MHR Global – the Ruddington based HR, payroll and analytics provider. It’s part of a major building expansion project which began with the opening of ‘Wellington House’ – which houses MHR’s software teams. This was followed by a £3million refurbishment…
