Ruddington Right of Way Claim

Villagers who enjoy exploring the footpaths across what remains of the open countryside surrounding Ruddington are being encouraged to help stop a popular and important access route being lost. Nottinghamshire Ramblers are appealing for evidence that Landmere Lane has been used by the public for the last 20 years as an ‘unregistered path’. Signs have been tied up around the area with specific reference to the link from the end of Landmere Lane to ‘Ruddington Bridleway 2’ {shown in the top photo}. The group is asking that path users complete a ‘User…

New Year – New Path

With Ruddington entering 2021 under ‘stay at home’ Tier 4 Coronavirus restrictions, at least unlimited outdoor exercise close to home is still permitted. The footpath work recently completed by Via East Midlands should make progress easier for local walkers. RUDDINGTON.info reported in November 2018 that residents from the Pasture Lane estates were celebrating the completion of a long awaited tarmac surface on ‘Footpath Number 5 – which links 50 Steps Bridge from over the railway line to Vicarage Park – meaning years of wading along a quagmire would finally be a thing of…

Clifton Road Footpath & Cycleway Construction Begins!

It’s been announced that the creation of Ruddington’s long awaited “safe” footway from Clifton Road via the Old Station Drive development directly into the Pasture Lane Estate will finally begin this Monday! The news follows a seven year campaign launched by former Parish Councillor Barbara Breakwell, after residents from the new housing complained of their “dangerous” daily walk, especially with young children. Ruddington’s New Footpath

Residents from the new Pasture Lane estates, and those who enjoy walking to Rushcliffe Country Park, are celebrating the completion of a long awaited all-weather surface on a key pedestrian access route. This has meant a long detour for some residents…

Notorious Footpath to be Resurfaced

After months of campaigning by pedestrians, and lobbying by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC), Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) has finally set a date to give a muddy Ruddington footpath a new, all-weather surface. Residents who complained about “Footpath Number 5” being unusable during periods of wet weather, due to puddles and mud, have just received letters from Via East Midlands announcing that “surface improvements” will be taking place next month. The stretch of footway in question links 50 Steps Bridge over the railway line to Vicarage Park. Not only is it…

Would YOU Want a Public Right of Way Here?

Ruddington residents who face having a new footpath and cycleway just feet from their homes say they were not properly consulted during the protracted planning process. Wayne Swift and his family live in one of the homes on Old Station Road {pictured top} which will be impacted by the route of this new public right of way. It’s set to be squeezed in at property level between the house boundaries {to the right of the existing fence} and the Clifton Road embankment. Wayne told us: “All those that want the…

Safer Footpath a Step Closer

Villagers frustrated by the lack of progress in building a safe and convenient pedestrian access to their homes may finally have some good news! Nottinghamshire County Council has revealed that moving things forward is now just a signature away – meaning the long awaited footpath/cycleway from Clifton Road via the Old Station Drive development directly into the Pasture Lane Estate (see aerial view above) can then be constructed. Residents’ anger even prompted them to start a petition to the County Council and Crest Nicholson Homes this week. It details how hundreds of Ruddington residents…
