Village residents are being warned there’s more disruption ahead for drivers when one of Ruddington’s busiest roads is closed again for major repairs. Earlier this month Clifton Road was shut to traffic for 24 hours after Severn Trent Water workmen turned up to fix a burst water main on a Sunday (January 10th 2021) but there was no one available to fill in the hole and patch the road until the next day. Emergency Road Closure in Ruddington

Villagers have been left bemused after Severn Trent Water workmen turned up to fix a mains leak in Ruddington this afternoon, closed the road, repaired the pipe, but then left the hole and went home. Consequently, Clifton Road remains completely shut* to traffic between the junction with Camelot Street and Old Station Drive – with the usually busy route set to stay closed into tomorrow. Organisers of our monthly Ruddington Village Market have announced that the popular event will be put on hold until April 3rd – Easter Saturday. The difficult decision by Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) has been made on COVID-19 safety grounds following the recent surge in cases of the new variant Coronavirus which has recently led to a third national ‘lockdown’. In another blow to our hospitality venues, one of the new restrictions added by the Government in the third ‘National lockdown’ is that public houses in England can no longer serve takeaway alcohol from their premises. Today’s Government announcement that Nottinghamshire, like most of the East Midlands, will move into England’s highest level of current Coronavirus restrictions from New Year’s Eve means that Ruddington will almost be back in ‘Lockdown’ for a third time.
