At a time when the Coronavirus pandemic means even more Ruddington families are struggling to make ends meet, Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has announced it intends to increase its share of our Council Tax by 3.2% in the next financial year. This is despite the current UK inflation rate standing at just 0.6% and with most bank and building society interest rates for savers even lower than that. With protecting our natural environment increasingly at the forefront of many people’s minds, one agenda item at this Tuesday evening’s Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) Cabinet Meeting is attracting particular interest amongst villagers. Dismay at Dangerous Drivers

Villagers are up in arms about the large number of motorists flouting a current four-day road closure in Ruddington. As we reported last week, Clifton Road was shut to through-traffic yesterday (Monday) to allow major resurfacing work which is needed to repair damage caused by a burst water main earlier this month. Village residents are being warned there’s more disruption ahead for drivers when one of Ruddington’s busiest roads is closed again for major repairs. Earlier this month Clifton Road was shut to traffic for 24 hours after Severn Trent Water workmen turned up to fix a burst water main on a Sunday (January 10th 2021) but there was no one available to fill in the hole and patch the road until the next day.
