Revised Pub Plans Published

As anticipated, a new planning application with a slightly scaled down extension to an historic Ruddington public house has been submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). It’s after original plans revealed in July, to substantially expand The Frame Breakers at the corner of High Street and Kirk Lane, received a negative reaction from some villagers and Ruddington Parish Council and so were withdrawn even before being put in front of the authority’s planning committee for consideration. Originally a three storey side extension with two storey side and rear extension to the existing building was proposed. Whilst many…

Local House Prices Defy National Averages

Today (1st November 2023) Nationwide have stated that property prices are on the rise once again. Moving the Goalposts!

During the summer we reported on an unpopular decision by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) to remove the netting from one of the goalposts in Sellors’ Recreation Ground to discourage people from using it. Before any serious damage was caused, it was decided to take away the net at that end of the pitch temporarily, until a solution could be found. Its…

Relief for Rain-soaked Ruddington

After Storm Babet brought us unusually persistent and heavy heavy rain to round off last week, village residents and businesses are thankful a drier spell of weather is now with us, and that damage and disruption was much more limited here than in many other parts of the country. With the ground already sodden due to unseasonably high October rainfall, the accurately forecasted deluge began on Thursday night (19th October) and continued unabated throughout Friday. Many drainage systems just couldn’t cope with the sheer quantity of water, and flooding occurred…

What’s Happening at Dutton’s Hill?

There’s been welcome relief for long-suffering Ruddington drivers and bus passengers this week after the imposition of temporary traffic lights at a notorious traffic bottleneck was postponed. As RUDDINGTON.info previously reported, following a number of gas leaks in recent years, Cadent Gas needs to carry out substantial maintenance on Wilford Road to replace the troublesome old iron gas main under ‘Dutton’s Hill’ (pictured top) with a “more durable” plastic pipe. This was due to happen between 16th October and 13th November 2023, therefore would have been going on at the same time as junction layout improvements…
