As Conservatives across the country celebrate their party’s landslide victory in the 2019 General Election, there was no surprise for Ruddington – with the Tories easily retaining a seat they’ve held here for the past 49 years. In a UK General Election with an outcome that’s very difficult to predict, one thing is for certain: by the end of this week, Ruddington will have a new representative at Westminster! Villagers are being asked to offer support to one of Ruddington’s most famous residents – who is out of action again following an accident earlier this week. Dave Bartram is back in the Queens Medical Centre with broken ribs and a suspected broken sternum after the incident – reported by Nottinghamshire Live on Friday to be a car crash in Ruddington last Monday. Village centre traders are encouraging residents to #ShopLocal in the run up to this Christmas – with several businesses staying open later every Wednesday between now and the big day. Starting tonight (27th November) until December 18th, Philo’s Espresso Bar and Eatery, The Bottle Top, Ruby Rae, Sweetie Boutique, Summers at Eleven, The Pamper Room, David Richards Jewellers and The Children’s Society Shop will all be trading until 7pm. There’s a special treat for beer lovers over this festive season – as Ruddington’s craft beer and eco-shop becomes a specialist ale ‘bar’ at weekends throughout December. Since opening in May this year, The Bottle Top – run by husband and wife team Anthony and Alex Preston – has been making quite an impression in the former Thomas’s Greengrocers shop at 2, High Street. The team behind the Ruddy Good Loyalty Card and Ruddington Village Market has just won the Celebrating Rushcliffe Award for ‘Community Group of the Year’ 2019. Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP), which only formed in April 2018, was recognised for galvanising village centre businesses into more initiatives to drive footfall to traders. Ruddington Makers’ Night Returns

Following the success of the debut event in June, the organisers of Ruddington Village Market are putting on a second ‘Makers Night’ for Christmas, a special festive craft evening across three main village venues and some of our high street shops.
