Private Renters – ‘Have Your Say’ on Damp and Mould

Ruddington residents in privately rented accommodation are being encouraged to complete a short, anonymous online survey on their living conditions and alert our local authority if living in a property with significant damp or mould problems. The survey is being carried out by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to find out how prevalent the issues are in privately rented houses within our village and across the wider area. It says the results could help shape the way it works with landlords and tenants to manage the risks they can cause. The…

‘Warm Welcome Spaces’ Agreed in Ruddington

Last month we reported how St Peter’s Church and Ruddington Parish Council were launching a village initiative to help those here who may struggle to both feed their families and heat their homes this winter. Whilst, thankfully, the Chancellor’s ‘Autumn Statement’ this week has left the current UK energy price caps in place throughout the coldest part of the year, already soaring gas and electricity costs are presenting a challenge for many in Ruddington. That’s why a public ‘Open Meeting’ was held in St Peter’s on October 18th 2022. Church member…

Seeking ‘Warm Spaces’ this Winter

Despite the turmoil within our Government continuing – with the appointment of a new Chancellor of the Exchequer one of the recent changes – thankfully the latest gas and electricity price caps and £400 household energy rebates are not yet among the policies being reversed by Downing Street. Nevertheless, the soaring cost of everything, not just our fuel bills, means some Ruddington residents will still struggle to both feed their families and heat their homes this winter.  The support website ‘Warm Welcome UK’ says: “There is an estimated £800 gap…

Watch Your Speed!

Have Your Say on Ruddington’s Polling Stations

Rushcliffe Borough Council is asking residents for their views on its polling districts and polling places when we vote in local, regional and national elections. A consultation period has begun, inviting comments on where polling stations are located and the ease of accessing them for those with a disability. For Ruddington, this currently means either our Village Hall on Wilford Road (pictured top) or St Peter’s Rooms on Church Street (pictured bottom), depending upon where we live. Parents of children who are starting Year 6 this September are being advised strongly to list four preferences when applying for their child’s secondary school place for next year – to avoid losing out on their preferred school for September 2023.
