Ruddington Tree Wardens Wanted

An appeal has been launched by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) for environmentally minded Ruddington residents to apply to become tree wardens – and ensure the trees in our village are protected and nurtured. Tree wardens are volunteers appointed by Parish Councils to champion local trees and woods, involve fellow residents in tree projects and protect local trees by reporting early signs of insect pests, disease and vandalism. Long Awaited Footpath and Cycleway Opened!

Ruddington’s long campaigned for “safe” footway from Clifton Road via the Old Station Drive development directly into the Pasture Lane Estate is finally finished. Land clearance along its route was undertaken late last year before construction began in earnest on January 7th. Ten weeks later, the main work has now been completed on schedule – with the footpath quietly opening to pedestrians without any ceremony today (Saturday March 16th). Application For Another 180 Houses Submitted

Following its ‘public consultation’ in January, William Davis Homes has now put in for outline planning permission to build 180 houses on ‘Land East Of Loughborough Road’ in Ruddington. This site, off the Mere Way Roundabout, is one of the Green Belt development areas earmarked in Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Local Plan Part 2 which was formerly known as RUD13. RBC’s plan allocates 170 new homes to fulfil its quota on this land, which is ten less than these proposals are suggesting. Revised Fares on NCT Buses

Passengers who use Ruddington’s Navy 3 or Green 10 services will generally be paying a little more for their journeys from the end of this month. Nottingham City Transport has announced it will be increasing some bus fares from Sunday March 31st. Two popular Ruddington bus services due to be axed because of Council budget cuts have been saved by their existing operator. CT4N, part of Nottingham Community Transport, which currently runs the the Locallink L22 and L23 services on behalf of the city and county councils, has decided to continue to operate them on a commercial basis.
