Villagers are being urged to vote “YES” to approve the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan in an important referendum being held this week. Everyone living in the parish should now have received either a postal ballot or a notification to vote in person at one of our two village Polling Stations on Thursday, 22nd July. A meeting of Rushcliffe Borough Councillors this week is expected to agree that the Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan should proceed to a referendum among villagers.* It’s after independent examiner David Kaiserman concluded that the Regulation 15 Submission Version met the ‘prescribed basic conditions’ and other statutory requirements – although this was subject to a total of 32 modifications he outlined in his March 2021 report. It’s Census Sunday!

This weekend will see a once-in-a-decade event which gives a snapshot of life right now in Ruddington and beyond. ‘Census 2021’, run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), takes place on Sunday 21st Match. By now, every village household should have received the documents above – each with a unique web access code – to enable residents to complete it. The Census, responses to which are required by law, is sent to every residential property across England and Wales. The information people give will decide how services are planned and funded.…

Final Neighbourhood Plan Consultation Launched

Since our Ruddington Village Plan was published in the summer of 2017 another hard working group of volunteers has been taking things a stage further with a Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) to give our local community additional influence on how the village should grow and develop in the future. Backed by Ruddington Parish Council this type of plan has more ‘teeth’ than its predecessor in determining planning policy and outcomes – such as where we’d prefer new homes, shops and offices to be built. Community Centre Consultation

It’s almost a year since Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) announced it had completed the purchase of the former Youth & Community Centre site on The Green from Nottinghamshire County Council for use by our whole village community in the future. It has lain empty and disused since December 2016, with the main building having to be boarded up in 2018 (top) following repeated acts of vandalism. Plans drawn up by Via East Midlands to implement a temporary one-way system in Ruddington village centre, with the aim of improving traffic flow and providing extra parking, have been rejected by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC). A short consultation has been launched by Nottinghamshire County Council to find out the views of residents and traders on introducing a temporary one-way system to the centre of Ruddington. It’s just over two years since Ruddington Parish Council gave its backing to a new Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan (RNP) which, theoretically at least, gives village residents direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and to shape the development and growth of our local area. Ruddington’s motorists are being warned to brace themselves for more autumn disruption as our raft of recent village roadworks continues over the next couple of weeks. From 6am this Saturday 26th October until 8pm Sunday 27th October, work by Western Power Distribution on High Street means double yellow lines and parking places between its junctions with Charles Street and Church Street will be unavailable.
