Community support is being acknowledged in helping Nottinghamshire Police recover a record number of weapons during the nationwide ‘Operation Sceptre’ week of action last month. Officers reveal that, across our county, more than 1,000 weapons were taken out of circulation. 949 were handed in through the knife amnesty, between the 16th and 22nd September, and the rest through weapons sweeps, targeted operations and stop and search activity. Motorists who leave their cars down Asher Lane whilst visiting Rushcliffe Country Park are being warned about a spate of recent vehicle break-ins there. There’s an October update below*. Although May was another relatively quiet month for crime in Ruddington, many of the incidents investigated by officers were again thefts from motor vehicles parked in residential areas of our village. These accounted for nearly half the offences reported. Police are reminding people not to leave valuables in unattended cars and vans, particularly overnight. Arrests Made After Railway Vandalism

Nottinghamshire Police say they have arrested two boys in connection with the criminal damage at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway site on Monday (29th April). Volunteers at our village heritage centre have estimated that the attack – reportedly involving around half a dozen young people who smashed a total of 112 windows on various items of coaching stock and two diesel railcars – will cost around £80,000 to repair. A jewellery shop in the centre of Ruddington has once again fallen victim to crime overnight. Rushcliffe Police have reported a burglary at David Richards Jewellers on Church Street in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 13th January). Statistics released on crimes reported in Ruddington through the festive period suggest that even many law-breakers were enjoying a Christmas break this year! Pram Theft Among Latest Ruddington Crimes!

One of the most bizarre crimes revealed in Ruddington during the past month was a pram stolen from just outside a resident’s house. On the 27th of November, Cat Pickup reported the unusual theft from her property on Churchill Drive via social media. She said: “It was outside my door.
