Closure of Flawforth Lane

As Ruddington’s temporary traffic lights chaos continues, with the chip shop work now over-running into a third week, the closure of a key village access route begins this Monday (September the 18th) after having been postponed on FOUR previous occasions. Flawforth Lane for around 200 metres from the Flawford Churchyard corner up to the Wheatcroft roundabout was originally due to be shut in early February this year for seven weeks. But the improvements were put on hold until other roadworks nearby on the A52 and the delayed “Tavern Island” roundabout construction in Ruddington were completed.…

Flawforth Lane Closure Put Back AGAIN

Astonishingly the closure of one of Ruddington’s key access routes – which was due to start this Monday (July 24th) – has been postponed for a FOURTH time. Even the yellow signs had gone up on this occasion – before then being taken down again! Flawforth Lane for around 200 metres from the Flawford Churchyard corner up to the Wheatcroft roundabout was originally due to be shut in early February this year for seven weeks. But the improvements were put on hold until other roadworks nearby on the A52 and…

No Flawforth Lane Closure Just Yet

A seven week closure of one of Ruddington’s key access routes is now set to happen at the end of July. Original information from Nottinghamshire Count Council given to roadworks.org indicated that the rescheduled major works along Flawforth Lane would be taking place from next week – Monday the 5th of June until Friday the 28th of July. However an enquiry from Ruddington Parish Council on behalf of RUDDINGTON.info has ascertained that the planned dates are now Monday 24th July to Friday 1st September 2017. Originally the closure was due to start in early February this year but the improvements were put on hold…

Flawforth Lane Closure Expected to be June

A postponed road closure on one of Ruddington’s key access routes now won’t happen until the summer say Nottinghamshire County Council. Revised dates given to roadworks.org indicated that it had been rescheduled to begin next Monday, the 13th of March. But Ruddington Parish Council has advised us that the work has been moved back yet again! A revised schedule now indicates the 5th of June to the 28th of July is most likely. Originally the closure was due to start on Monday 6th February but the improvements were put on hold until roadworks nearby on the A52 and the delayed…

Closure of Flawforth Lane Postponed

Ruddington’s drivers are being warned to expect travel delays during the closure of a popular village access route. Flawforth Lane for around 200 metres from the Flawford Churchyard corner up to the Wheatcroft roundabout will be shut for about seven weeks due to Nottinghamshire County Council highways improvement work. Originally the work was due to start TODAY (Monday 6th February) but Ruddington Parish Council has been told the “closure has been delayed until further notice”. An initial update on roadworks.org suggested the work would take place from Monday the 27th February until Friday the 14th of April –…

MP’s Ruddington Pothole Pledge

Rushcliffe’s Member of Parliament is promising to take action after being contacted by residents across our village complaining about the many potholes and deteriorating road surfaces here in Ruddington right now. On a flyer delivered to Ruddington households, Ruth Edwards MP says: “Working with your local county councillor, l have been collating these issues. In particular, Asher Lane, Mere Way and Flawforth Lane have all been highlighted. l also know there are some more general concerns about road maintenance and the deterioration of the road surface across the village, particularly between Ruddington and…

Gas Works Cause Chaos!

As if the ongoing work at the Loughborough Road/Kirk Lane/Flawforth Lane junction isn’t enough, motorists trying to navigate through Ruddington today had even more delays to contend with. After starting on February 22nd, the gas maintenance work by Cadent at ‘Tavern Island’ – the mini-roundabout where Clifton Road meets Wilford Road – expanded unexpectedly from the grass verge into the carriageway.  Three-way temporary traffic lights were put into use, which caused long, peak-time queues (above). This work (below) is expected to continue tomorrow (Wednesday 28th February) so it’s likely there’s…

£336k of Ruddington Schools’ Cash to Expand Edwalton Academy!

Late last year we reported how Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) had indicated the expansion of Rosecliffe Spencer Academy in Edwalton (top photo) would be the focus of its efforts to accommodate an increasing population of Ruddington children, rather than creating more school places here. This has now been confirmed in a ‘response’ from NCC to last summer’s petition by village resident Katie Santana on behalf of aggrieved parents in Ruddington. To their surprise and dismay at the time, a number of families living here found their children couldn’t get a place…
