Last December we reported how Space Foods Ltd had decided to appeal to the Planning Inspectorate against Rushcliffe Borough Council’s refusal to allow it outline planning permission for 175 new homes on Green Belt land it owns south of Musters Road – with access off Asher Lane. Following the success of the inaugural event in the summer of 2016, it’s been revealed there’s to be a second “Ruddington Open Gardens” event in June this year – which organisers hope will be even bigger and better. The date for the 2018 event is to be the weekend of 23rd/24th June, and all proceeds will again be shared between the charities Save the Children and Action for Children. Back in April we reported that Rushcliffe Borough Council had rejected plans to build 175 new homes on our Green Belt north of Asher Lane. The proposals (above) were lodged by land owners Space Foods Ltd in January after a previous application for 250 houses on the same site was withdrawn two years earlier. Following last week’s important public meeting on the future of Ruddington’s Green Belt in St Peter’s Rooms, Ruddington Parish Council has just published its own views – objecting to TWO of the proposed housing sites and also to the increased allocation of homes for our village. Dog Poisoning Fear in Rushcliffe Country Park

There are concerns there may still be a hidden danger to dogs and other animals in our Country Park after slug pellets wrapped in bacon were found there. It’s especially concerning as summer weekends are a peak time for dog owners to take their pets to enjoy facilities such as Coppers’ Dog Activity Trail (pictured). Rushcliffe Borough Council has launched a new survey asking if locals and visitors would like to see a dedicated café at Ruddington’s Country Park. It wants you to have YOUR say on whether you think it’s a good idea – AND whether you’d use it?
