A man is in police custody in connection with a robbery and an attempted robbery at our village supermarkets. Rushcliffe Police report that a man entered Sainsbury’s Local on Dutton’s Hill (above) at about 5.40pm yesterday (Saturday 5 October 2019). Police Report Record Haul During Knife Amnesty

Community support is being acknowledged in helping Nottinghamshire Police recover a record number of weapons during the nationwide ‘Operation Sceptre’ week of action last month. Officers reveal that, across our county, more than 1,000 weapons were taken out of circulation. 949 were handed in through the knife amnesty, between the 16th and 22nd September, and the rest through weapons sweeps, targeted operations and stop and search activity. Rushcliffe Borough Council has announced that its temporary ban on unauthorised encampments in Ruddington’s Country Park – and at four other key sites it owns – has been made permanent for three years. Incident Closes Clifton Road For Six Hours

Motorists trying to get between Ruddington and Clifton have found themselves facing a long diversion this evening (Thursday 12th September) after Clifton Road was closed to traffic. Officers put cordons in place – and blocked the route with police cars – to prevent access to and from Wilford Road at ‘Tavern Island’ after an accident near the end of Clifton Road. It seems vandals have struck again at our heritage railway centre. Nottinghamshire Police are reporting that, over the past few nights, a total of six windows over a number of carriages have been broken at Ruddington’s Great Central Railway – Nottingham. The latest, mindless attack comes as railway volunteers are still trying to raise funds to fix the estimated £80,000 of damage caused there by vandalism just over three months ago. Rushcliffe Police have revealed they seized 147 cannabis plants of different sizes and stages of cultivation during their early morning raid on a house in Asher Lane last month. It was after receiving tip-offs from the local community around suspicious, drugs related activity at the Ruddington address.
