Following an earlier consultation in January for patients registered at Ruddington’s Church House Surgery, it’s been revealed the next, proposed stage is to make our village practice part-time permanently. Pre-pandemic, the Shaw Street doctors was open from 8.30am to 6.30pm weekdays – except on Thursdays when it was 7am to 12.30pm. The latest plans from The Village Health Group (VHG) would see its hours halved to 8am until 1.00pm on weekdays on a permanent basis. A letter sent to VHG patients and stakeholders explains: “General practice has remained open throughout the pandemic and patients…

Special School Plans Approved
The wheels are now in motion for a Grade 2 listing building here in Ruddington to begin a new chapter in its history – after planning permission for a ‘special school’ there was granted by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). Plans to erect a contemporary, new home in Ruddington’s conservation area, right alongside The Green, have been rejected by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC). The application [22/00485/FUL] by Building Design (Nottm) Ltd would have seen the demolition of the garage belonging to 6, The Green (‘The White House’) to make way for a modern two storey house (plus attic room) to be built ‘next door’ over the current garden – filling the “gap” seen in the photograph above. You can find further details >>HERE<<. The two reasons RBC gives for rejecting these plans are:- “The…

The planning application to construct an archery range on agricultural land north of Ruddington has been withdrawn. After being told earlier this year they would be losing their current facilities in Wollaton Park, Wilford Bowmen were seeking a new site as a matter of urgency. Subsequently they applied for permission to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) (22/00622/FUL) to change the use of a small part of the field east of Wilwell Cottage, accessed from Wilford Road (top), to house their new outdoor archery range. The application also included a parking area…

With Ruddington’s reported crime rate more than doubling during April*, this week village residents had the opportunity to meet up and discuss the issue of policing our village with Rushcliffe MP Ruth Edwards and representatives from Nottinghamshire Police. It follows the distribution of a ‘Ruddington Crime Survey’ to all households here last September asking villagers to give our views on crime and policing in our community. Ruth invited everyone who responded to the survey to meet her and police representatives in the Ruddington Arms this week, to discuss issues raised.…

When NHS Rushcliffe Clinical Commissioning Group relocated from Easthorpe House to new premises in June 2020, the future of the Grade 2 listed Ruddington property looked rather uncertain. With the COVID-19 pandemic in full swing by then, for its landlords Carlton Street Trading finding new tenants for this large but attractive building off Loughborough Road was likely to prove more difficult than usual. Thankfully for them, in the interim, the generous and picturesque grounds have enabled both an open-air ‘Castle Rock Brewery Beer Festival’ and a ‘Pop-Up Beer Garden’ run by Annie’s Burger Shack to be…
