Ruddington’s ‘Heat ‘n’ Eat’ to Get Bigger in 2023

It’s been confirmed a Ruddington community venture which started over the summer, offering a chef-prepared, two-course lunch for just £1, will continue into next year – and also increase the number of diners it can accommodate. The twice monthly ‘Heat ‘n’ Eat’ meals, comprising good quality and wholesome, hot food, began at the end of June 2022. They are served-up in the peaceful and welcoming surroundings of St Peter’s Church. As the bitter winter weather bites, the venue has also become one of the ‘Warm Spaces’ in Ruddington where villagers struggling to heat…

Ruddington’s New Gift Shop

The retail area of one of Ruddington’s top tourist attractions has been transformed this week thanks to a significant cash boost. We reported in October how £8,335 had been awarded towards The Framework Knitter’s Museum‘s ‘Shop Improvement Project’ through the Museum Development East Midlands (MDEM)’s Recovery and Reboot Grants. This also included core funding and a donation from ‘The Friends of the Ruddington Framework Knitters’ Museum’. It’s involved the installation of a reception desk for ‘point of sale’ alongside extensive new display cabinets and shelving in ‘Parker’s Yard’ – which sits within the former…

Country Park Transformation in Full Swing with Help from Artex

Artex colleagues dusted off their wellies earlier this month to plant 400 hedges and trees donated by the Ruddington based business to Rushcliffe Country Park. The hedgerows were planted in the park’s new outdoor seating area which has been developed into a large, open and shaded area with views of the lake and easy access to the car park, visitor centre, toilets and café. Private Renters – ‘Have Your Say’ on Damp and Mould

Ruddington residents in privately rented accommodation are being encouraged to complete a short, anonymous online survey on their living conditions and alert our local authority if living in a property with significant damp or mould problems. The survey is being carried out by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to find out how prevalent the issues are in privately rented houses within our village and across the wider area. It says the results could help shape the way it works with landlords and tenants to manage the risks they can cause. The…

Hope for the Housing Market as 2022 Draws to a Close

With the recent uncertainty in the housing market, it can be hard to know when the best time is to sell your property writes Ricky Benwell. Whether you’re thinking of buying your first home, upsizing or downsizing from your current property, keeping a close eye on the local market and house prices is always a good place to start. ‘Pay What You Can’ for Christmas

Ruddington’s community spirit is shining brightly this festive season, with another village initiative launched this week to help cash-strapped families and individuals cope with the spiralling cost of… virtually everything! Called ‘Pay What You Can’, it’s the idea of village centre trader Sarah Burton (pictured) from Phoenix Flowers. She explains: “With the cost of living, and Christmas coming up, I know a lot of families must be stressed and struggling right now. I was going through some bits to donate to charity the other day but had an idea… what if we…

Christmas 2022 in Ruddington

After the ‘lockdown’ Christmas of 2020, and the rather restrained festive season of 2021, Ruddington’s celebrations in 2022 look as if they might just be the biggest and best ever! That’s certainly the case for this weekend’s ‘Ruddington Christmas Market’ (on Saturday December 3rd) which, as previously reported, will comprise over a hundred indoor and outdoor stalls of food, drink and gifts, two covered pop-up bars and stages of live music, and children’s activities. Now organised by Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) it will take place along both High Street and Church Street (road closures…
