Police to Increase Ruddington Patrols

In response to residents’ concerns about an increase in crime, anti-social behaviour and vandalism in Ruddington, Inspector Craig Berry of Rushcliffe Police is promising to get more officers on to our village streets. Incidents reported in just the past two weeks include “house burglary”, “theft from person”, “vehicle crime” and “anti-social behaviour”. Weather permitting, the road resurfacing work which did not get completed on one of Ruddington’s estates, due to ice and snow, will finally be done TOMORROW (Thursday 12th April). Car Criminals Strike Again

Rushcliffe Police warn that several incidents of car crime were reported in Ruddington overnight on Monday 2nd April and Tuesday 3rd April. A green Honda Accord was stolen from outside premises on Camelot Street sometime between 7pm and 7am. Also a White Hyundai was broken into by “unknown means” and a Dell laptop was stolen from inside – whilst a Mercedes parked on Wilford Road was entered but nothing was stolen. Goodbye “Mrs Hawthorn”

The funeral of a popular teacher who taught hundreds of Ruddington schoolchildren during her 22 year career is taking place this Friday. Heather Hawthorn (pictured above with husband Don) taught at St Peter’s School from 1970 until her retirement in 1992. Sadly she lost her battle with pancreatic cancer last month when it infected her liver. She was 81.
