Ruddington Shoplifter Jailed

A prolific shoplifter has been put behind bars and banned from a number of local stores as Nottinghamshire Police continue their promised crackdown on repeat offenders. Dale Tainton, of no fixed abode, admitted stealing from Ruddington Co-op on January 7th this year. The 45-year-old had a magnetic de-tagging device when neighbourhood police officers caught him. After pleading guilty to shoplifting and going equipped to steal, he was jailed for eight weeks when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on January 16th. Prolific Shoplifter Jailed

A 31-year-old man, who originally received a deferred sentence for a shoplifting spree in Ruddington and Clifton last September, is now behind bars after committing further offences over Christmas. Following his original sentence, Aaron Kelly (pictured above), of no fixed address, was re-arrested on December 29th and re-sentenced the next day at Nottingham Crown Court after being found responsible for numerous, further shop thefts. Altogether he committed 41 crimes including stealing gift sets, food and makeup – as well as smashing goods inside a shop. Mr Kelly must now spend six months in jail.…

Catalytic Converter Thefts in Ruddington

September’s Ruddington Crime statistics, just issued by Rushcliffe Police, show a spike in vehicle crime around our village. This includes two cars – one parked on Wilford Road and another on Church Street – which had their catalytic converters stolen. It seems thieves target these for the precious metals they contain – such as rhodium, palladium, and platinum – making newer vehicles the most vulnerable. Cannabis Crop Was July’s Crime Coup

Rushcliffe Police have revealed they seized 147 cannabis plants of different sizes and stages of cultivation during their early morning raid on a house in Asher Lane last month. It was after receiving tip-offs from the local community around suspicious, drugs related activity at the Ruddington address. A man was arrested at the scene and has appeared in court in connection with the discovery. Rushcliffe Police are warning residents that several motor vehicles in our village were targeted by a thief over the weekend. Officers report: “During the early hours of Sunday (20th January) a number of vehicles were entered across the Ruddington area and items stolen after the suspect had rummaged around. Ruddington Street Robbery Arrests

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of a knifepoint robbery in Ruddington. Rushcliffe Police say a boy was targeted by two men in Loughborough Road, who threatened him with a knife at about 7.10pm on Tuesday (27th March). They stole a quantity of cash from him before making off. Officers located two suspects nearby and two knives were recovered. A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man have been arrested.
