How about a “fun, wild and fantastic time for kids”? Children aged between 8 and 12, from the village and beyond, can get involved with 2-hour nature sessions run by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Their Rushcliffe Wildlife Watch group meets monthly (except in August) at 11am usually at our Country Park on the second Saturday, outside the Education Centre by the lake. Leader Geoff East from the Trust says: “Watch groups are like a wild club for kids, packed full of wildlife activities and aimed at 8 to 12 year-olds, though we can…

Ruddington crime figures for last month just revealed by Rushcliffe Police show a spike in thefts, burglaries and items stolen from motor vehicles in our village – though without any criminal damage recorded this time around. As previously reported, the summer ‘crime wave’ prompted local officers to increase patrols in Ruddington. However, the August figures from our local officers do not include the subsequent assault on a 28 year-old man in Easthorpe Street on August 21st, which left the victim seriously ill in hospital with life threatening head injuries. A 34-year-old…

Ruddington welcomed the return of its weekly 5k Parkrun for adults this morning (Saturday 24th July) after an unprecedented sixteen month gap. It was suspended back in March 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic so participants today were clearly keen to get their running shoes and high-vis back on! Whilst Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun had already resumed on Sunday mornings, for 4 to 10 year-olds, in April, Parkrun UK decided to wait for a further lifting of Coronavirus restrictions before restarting the timed run for the grown-ups on Saturday mornings. Both events remain FREE to…

Meantime, the already reduced level of Coronavirus restrictions means it’s again possible to run this June challenge safely whilst still observing ‘social distancing’ rules, etc. ’30 Days…

With Ruddington entering 2021 under ‘stay at home’ Tier 4 Coronavirus restrictions, at least unlimited outdoor exercise close to home is still permitted. The footpath work recently completed by Via East Midlands should make progress easier for local walkers. RUDDINGTON.info reported in November 2018 that residents from the Pasture Lane estates were celebrating the completion of a long awaited tarmac surface on ‘Footpath Number 5 – which links 50 Steps Bridge from over the railway line to Vicarage Park – meaning years of wading along a quagmire would finally be a thing of…

It’s not very frequently we get snow within the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ in our part of the East Midlands. However, villagers awoke to the first significant snowfall of the winter this morning – much to the delight of our younger residents. As the photographs above taken by Sarah Godfrey demonstrate, Ruddington was ready! Perkins Hardware was open bright and early and doing a roaring trade in sledges, 6 year-old Edwin was out in front of St Peter’s Rooms’ Christmas display building ‘Jerry’ the snowman, whilst our new shopping precinct…

As Government ‘lockdown’ restrictions are eased a little, Rushcliffe Borough Council has announced the reopening of some car parks at its open spaces, tennis courts and skate parks. These include a limited number of facilities at Ruddington’s Country Park – which were closed in March due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. The Authority says risk assessments have been completed with its teams and third parties to ensure all can be accessed in line with government advice. However visitors are asked to ensure social distancing of two metres is maintained at…
