With elections for new Ruddington Borough and Parish Councillors taking place on Thursday 4th May 2023, there are a few things villagers may need to do right now in preparation. Firstly, not only do residents need to make sure we are registered to vote, we will also need to have an accepted form of ‘photo ID’ ready to show if voting in person. It follows the UK Government introducing this requirement – which applies for the first time in England at these 4th May polls. Forms of acceptable photo ID, which…

Help Shape Ruddington’s Future in 2023
Whilst most residents think Ruddington is still a great place to live, complaints are frequently seen on social media and elsewhere about the significant amount of new house building that’s been permitted in and around our village. Inevitably our growing population is resulting in an increase in local traffic, a lack of public parking, the over-stretching of our existing facilities such as schools and doctors, and a general strain on our fundementally ‘Victorian’ era infrastructure. It’s also having a significant impact on our ‘natural’ environment – as precious former Green Belt land…

A Ruddington pub boss says he was ‘shocked’ that Parish Councillors did not wish to renew a popular, long-running scheme to provide much needed extra parking in our village centre. To address the increasing difficulty in finding a space, an agreement was reached back in 2014 between Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) and The White Horse Inn that the left hand side of their car park could be used by village shoppers from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. This has been the case until recently – when RUDDINGTON.info was alerted…

The team behind Ruddington’s popular monthly market is ready to pull out all the festive stops next Saturday, as ‘Ruddington Village Christmas Market’ returns for 2022. Organised by the Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP), this year’s Christmas market is set to be an even bigger event after the wet and windy market of 2021; with over 100 indoor and outdoor stalls of food, drink and gifts, two covered pop-up bars and stages of live music, and children’s activities. In a change to the format from last year, the Christmas market…

Ruddington residents should be aware of a recent flurry of Nottinghamshire Police activity here around vehicles that are either untaxed or holding a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) but still being left on the street. In the last couple of weeks, at least two cars in Ruddington have been seized and towed away after it was discovered their owners were breaking the law. In the most recent case {top police photo} a red Ford Fiesta with no insurance and no tax was taken off the road following complaints from other residents.…

Residents and visitors wishing to park in the Easthorpe Street area of Ruddington will soon have fewer options – due to new parking prohibitions being introduced along a residential side road. Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) has revealed its work to paint new double yellow lines all along the eastern side and top turning circle of Cumberland Close is scheduled to take place from March 7th to 9th. The new ‘no parking at any time’ restrictions are the result of a campaign by home owners in the village cul-de-sac. There’s been long-standing…

Most villagers consider ourselves very fortunate to have over 200 acres of recreational green space right on our doorstep, at the southern edge of Ruddington. Since being created, thirty years’ ago, Rushcliffe Country Park has become a magnet for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers in general – as well as hosting numerous, regular events including the weekly walks, park runs and the brand new skatepark, which all attract visitors here from far and wide. Now the many users of Ruddington’s Country Park ark are being asked to give their opinions in…

It’s being reported there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response so far to plans by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) for its proposed community facilities behind The Green. Its decision to demolish the existing building and build a brand new community centre for our village followed an online survey the Council carried out late last year. Nevertheless, RPC had hoped that the present premises (opened only in 1983) might be brought back into use temporarily whilst funding was sought for the new building. Unfortunately, it reports this has not proved to be a viable option. This is…

The new owners of the former Youth & Community Centre on The Green – which has lain empty and disused for over four years – have revealed how they plan to bulldoze it and erect more modern facilities in its place. As we’ve previously reported, Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) bought the building from Nottinghamshire County Council in 2019. Their planned public consultation on its future was delayed by the Coronavirus outbreak. Meantime, the onsite parking there has been made available to village traders in order to free up visitor spaces nearer the shops.…

It was just over two years’ ago when RUDDINGTON.info reported plans to build a four-storey car park at Ruddington Fields Business Park. After a slight redesign during the planning approval process, it has now been officially opened. However, this parking is not for public use, but for staff and visitors to the headquarters of MHR Global – the Ruddington based HR, payroll and analytics provider. It’s part of a major building expansion project which began with the opening of ‘Wellington House’ – which houses MHR’s software teams. This was followed by a £3million refurbishment…
