Councils To Negotiate on Former Youth Centre

The latest vandalism to Ruddington’s former Young People’s Centre on The Green seems to have finally prompted some action from Nottinghamshire County Council – which owns the disused premises. The building has been empty since December 2016 when “The Body Centre” ran into financial difficulties and was forced to close. Previously it had been Ruddington’s dedicated Youth and Community Centre but was leased out by the County Council to fitness firm Project Body UK in 2014 (for a planned ten year period) due to government spending cuts. In summer 2016 the conditional youth provision was reintroduced there…

The closure of Thomas’s Greengrocer’s in Ruddington seems to have prompted an unprecedented wave of concern for the future of our unique, village centre shops. When it was revealed on Easter Saturday that the sixty year old family company had gone into liquidation, and would cease trading the very same day, hundreds turned up on High Street in person and chatted to some of the eight members of shocked staff who were set to suddenly lose their jobs. However that is not going to be the END of the story… Currently the only car parking charges in Ruddington are at our Country Park where new pay & display machines (right) with a nominal £1 fee were introduced by Rushcliffe Borough Council in their visitor car park last summer. With our increasing village…

The number of vacant seats on Ruddington Parish Council has risen to three – following the resignation this week of Flawford Ward Councillor, John Noble. He told RUDDINGTON.info that his decision to leave was purely due to time constraints and him being able to give the council the dedication required. However his departure leaves the council with yet another post to fill – less than a week after no one came forward to contest empty seats in Easthorpe Ward and Manor Ward. Attempts will now be made to fill these…
