Following further complaints from villagers about not being able to park near their homes, a consultation is underway about creating additional ‘residents only’ parking areas near Ruddington village centre. Via East Midlands, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council Highways, says it sent out letters and questionnaires to residents in 33 properties over the summer asking if they would like residents parking restrictions along part of Easthorpe Street. If you’ve walked, cycled or driven past The Green in the last couple of days, you’ll almost certainly have noticed the metal security fencing and scaffolding just erected at Ruddington’s former Youth & Community (‘Young People’s) Centre. Originally owned and maintained by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) it has lain empty and disused since December 2016, with the main building having to be boarded up in 2018 following repeated acts of vandalism. Ruddington was alive with the sound of music yesterday – as around 170 voices demonstrated the joy of singing at various venues around our village. Private Renters – ‘Have Your Say’ on Damp and Mould

Ruddington residents in privately rented accommodation are being encouraged to complete a short, anonymous online survey on their living conditions and alert our local authority if living in a property with significant damp or mould problems. The survey is being carried out by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to find out how prevalent the issues are in privately rented houses within our village and across the wider area. New Community Centre Designs Unveiled

It’s being reported there’s been an overwhelmingly positive response so far to plans by Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) for its proposed community facilities behind The Green. Its decision to demolish the existing building and build a brand new community centre for our village followed an online survey the Council carried out late last year. Nevertheless, RPC had hoped that the present premises (opened only in 1983) might be brought back into use temporarily whilst funding was sought for the new building. A new pattern of wards is being developed for Rushcliffe Borough Council following The Local Government Boundary Commission‘s decision that the number of councillors here in Rushcliffe should be 44 – the same as it is now. However, with a significant amount of new housebuilding in Ruddington and other parts of the Borough, the Commission says our boundaries may need to change. It’s almost a year since Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) announced it had completed the purchase of the former Youth & Community Centre site on The Green from Nottinghamshire County Council for use by our whole village community in the future.
