Recycling and re-using are at the heart of a special ‘pre-loved’ clothing event coming to our village next month. Ruddington’s award-winning Framework Knitters’ Museum is teaming up with ‘The Big Swap Shop’ to host a swap and ‘slow’ fashion event on Saturday 10th June from 6pm to 9pm. Fabulous Feedback from ‘The Big Sing’
Ruddington was alive with the sound of music yesterday – as around 170 voices demonstrated the joy of singing at various venues around our village. Organised by Ruddington Community Choir, ‘The Big Sing’ was back – after a five year absence due to COVID-19 and other factors – and it seems participants from near and far quickly and eagerly picked up from where it had left off. The big day (Saturday May 20th 2023) started with a ‘Mass Workshop’ in St Peter’s Church where singers learned ‘I’m Into Something Good’ and…

After less than three years in the post, the minister of Ruddington Methodist Church has revealed she’s being moved almost 300 miles to another circuit in Cornwall! It’s almost six months since we brought you the disappointing news that the ‘Ruddington Big Sing’ would not be returning for 2022 after all – having been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had previously taken place every two years. Postponed from 8th October last year, organisers Ruddington Community Choir have confirmed a rescheduled date this May – its traditional ‘slot’ in the village calendar – with tickets available now! Organisers stress that the ‘Big Sing’ is open to anyone and everyone who enjoys singing; you do not have to be a…

Following a public consultation in our village in March 2022, Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) has now submitted a full planning application for its proposed ‘hybrid renewable energy project’ on agricultural land south west of Ruddington. Called ‘Fair Oaks Renewable Energy Park’ the power generation scheme would be located at Fields Farm off Asher Lane and pair 49.9MW of solar panels with 49.9MW of battery storage capacity. That’s said to be enough to supply 11,200 homes with green electricity. The company says the combination of technologies can achieve “efficient, reliable, and stable…

Spring is definitely ‘in the air’ and women in Ruddington are being invited to gather again to celebrate its arrival. ‘Messy Mums’ – an evening of ‘chatting, crafting using upcycled materials, plus cake and wine’ – is back this Thursday at St Peter’s Church. It’s a FREE event, usually held there three times a year for the mums in our village, although non-mums are also welcome. However, organisers say it is specifically for “ladies”. Liz Mack of St Peter’s Church explains: “Messy Mums was born out of Messy Church, a family…
