The True Meaning of Christmas

Whilst Ruddington’s wide variety of festive celebrations among traders and other village organisations in the run up to Christmas are hard to beat, it’s always good to remember the significance of this special period from a religious point of view. That’s what our three very active Christian churches in Ruddington are inviting us to do in the coming days, and here are their main Christmas services for 2023: Sunday 17th December Nativity Sunday Service @ 10.30am | Ruddington Baptist Church in St Peter’s Rooms – an all-age, interactive retelling of the…

Another Minister on the Move!

After less than three years in the post, the minister of Ruddington Methodist Church has revealed she’s being moved almost 300 miles to another circuit in Cornwall! Reverend Nichola Jones arrived in Ruddington during the first ‘lockdown’ in September 2020 – to replace Revd Simon Rose as our Methodist Minister – and did expect to be here for the long term. “It was a bit of a shock to be told by the Methodist Church that they needed me elsewhere!” she admits. “We serve ‘under obedience’ and the Church is…

It’s on Wednesday 14th December and begins at 7.30pm. Lyric sheets will be provided.…

Minister of Ruddington Methodist Church, Revd Nichola Jones, tells us the traditional building of the ‘Easter Cross’ of flowers in front of their building (pictured above) will be taking place this Saturday (3rd April): “Any gifts of flowers are warmly welcomed from 10am…

‘Light Up Ruddington’

Churches in our village have got together to suggest a rather less scary and more positive alternative for householders than celebrating Hallowe’en this year. Instead, ‘Light Up Ruddington’ has been launched by Mark Holden, who’s the Children, Families & Youth Leader at the Baptist Church: “After a member of our church saw this project being run in Loughborough – which they called ‘Streets of Light’ we thought we could do it here in Ruddington” explains Mark. “The idea is that as we are surrounded by so much negative news, worry…
