Reported Village Crime Increases Post-Lockdown

Crime statistics for Ruddington, just released by Rushcliffe Police for April 2021, show a significant rise in reported offences when compared with the first three months of this year. The end of the strictest ‘lockdown’ measures here is thought to be a contributory factor – with more people now out and about and more village premises now open for business. New Round of Co-op Community Funding

It’s been announced that the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund is opening next week – on Tuesday May 4th. This will be the seventh time local clubs, charities and organisations have been invited to apply for funding raised by Co-operative members. Excitement is mounting amongst younger children from our village (and beyond) that Rushcliffe Junior Parkrun will be back from Sunday April 11th at 9.00am! The usually weekly event in Ruddington’s Country Park has been cancelled for just over a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic – which, of course, led to Government restrictions on large gatherings. Figures just released for February 2021 by Rushcliffe Police show that offences in Ruddington have dropped again – to the lowest level since RUDDINGTON.info first started reporting them on a monthly basis. New Year Honour for Ruddington Occupational Therapist

A community-spirited village resident says it’s “an incredible honour and privilege” to have been recognised in The Queen’s New Year Honours list for 2021. Kate Robertson, who has become very well known around Ruddington since she moved here from Newark in 1991 with her husband and three young children, will receive an MBE for ‘services to occupational therapy’. You may be pleased to hear that, just prior to the new ‘lockdown’, Ruddington enjoyed one of its ‘quietest’ months in recent history when it comes to recorded crime. After 23 incidents were reported to Rushcliffe Police during September, during all of October only 6 crimes in our village came to the attention of its officers – a drop of 74%.
