“The Beast” Hits Ruddington!

After having escaped the worst impacts of the bad weather sweeping the UK earlier this week, Ruddington has seen the heaviest snowfall of the winter during the past 24 hours – thanks to the effects of the so-called “Beast From The East”. Villagers awoke to a blanket of around three inches of drifting snow this morning – accompanied by icy north-easterly winds. Nottinghamshire organisers are keen to find out if there’s an interest among older villagers to set up one or more groups here in Ruddington. Update on our Village Plan

You may remember that something of a milestone was reached last summer with the publication of the definitive Ruddington Village Plan –  your vision for how our village should develop over the next 5 to 10 years. Following the success of the inaugural event in the summer of 2016, it’s been revealed there’s to be a second “Ruddington Open Gardens” event in June this year – which organisers hope will be even bigger and better. When Cutting a Corner is Welcomed

A public spirited villager has come to the rescue in Ruddington. The pavement on the corner of St John’s Road and St Mary’s Crescent has a very steep kerb making it difficult, even dangerous, for mobility scooter and wheelchair users, people with prams and with pushchairs to negotiate the corner safely. A complaint was received by Ruddington Parish Council after a mobility scooter user fell into the road from the slope. Fortunately the lady was only slightly injured. Dog Poisoning Fear in Rushcliffe Country Park

There are concerns there may still be a hidden danger to dogs and other animals in our Country Park after slug pellets wrapped in bacon were found there. It’s especially concerning as summer weekends are a peak time for dog owners to take their pets to enjoy facilities such as Coppers’ Dog Activity Trail (pictured).
