Ruddington mindfulness teacher Jakki Pritchard is set to run a Spring Mindfulness FREE ‘taster session’ followed by another eight week course in the Old Chapel at the Framework Knitters’ Museum. She started running her ‘Exercise Mindfulness’ sessions in our village in 2017 year to give locals easy access to what she describes as “an enlightening and life enhancing way to manage our own health and wellbeing”. Ruddington Tree Wardens Wanted

An appeal has been launched by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) for environmentally minded Ruddington residents to apply to become tree wardens – and ensure the trees in our village are protected and nurtured. Tree wardens are volunteers appointed by Parish Councils to champion local trees and woods, involve fellow residents in tree projects and protect local trees by reporting early signs of insect pests, disease and vandalism. Long Awaited Footpath and Cycleway Opened!

Ruddington’s long campaigned for “safe” footway from Clifton Road via the Old Station Drive development directly into the Pasture Lane Estate is finally finished. Land clearance along its route was undertaken late last year before construction began in earnest on January 7th. Ten weeks later, the main work has now been completed on schedule – with the footpath quietly opening to pedestrians without any ceremony today (Saturday March 16th). Marking Our Country Park’s Aviation History

A special plaque has been unveiled which acknowledges Ruddington’s role in providing a key airfield during World War One. The Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust plaque has been installed on ‘Fowemer Hill‘ in Rushcliffe Country Park, commemorating the area that was used as a take-off and landing strip during The Great War by No38 Squadron from December 1916 to August 1917. After around two thousand people flocked to the inaugural Ruddington Village Market at The White Horse Inn a month ago, organisers are keeping their fingers crossed that this Saturday’s follow-up will be just as popular. Brace Yourself For More Delays and Disruption!

Drivers are being warned to expect major disruption for up to three days – as works take place in Ruddington village centre. Residents, business-people, commuters and visitors will all be affected – as road closures, temporary traffic lights and parking restrictions are introduced. Carriageway resurfacing by Via East Midlands is taking place on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council on Charles Street and Parkyns Street. Footpath Should Reopen Soon!

It’s hoped a closed footway, which residents on a Ruddington estate usually use to gain easy access to our village centre, should be open again before too long. The jitty between Elms Park and Elms Gardens was closed by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) over three months’ ago when it was reported that a wall alongside it was crumbling (photos courtesy of Paul Witney). Ruddington’s bus users are being reminded that timetable revisions to Nottingham City Transport‘s Clifton services begin this Sunday, 27th January, and these will have an impact for passengers who currently catch the Navy 3 in and out of our village. It’s been announced that the creation of Ruddington’s long awaited “safe” footway from Clifton Road via the Old Station Drive development directly into the Pasture Lane Estate will finally begin this Monday! If you’re aged 18 or over, and can spare a few hours a week or month, Ruddington District Girlguiding needs YOU! Our relatively large village is home to two Rainbow packs, two Brownies packs, one Guide pack and one Rangers section. Recent adventures across the sections include designing a sandwich and packaging, crazy golf and Country Park games. More adult help is now needed to continue such activities in 2019 – with fundraising at Asda (via packing bags) and a district camp for all sections already organised in the coming weeks.…
