The Framework Knitters’ Museum has ambitious plans to redevelop and expand its Ruddington site. It’s applying for Heritage Lottery funding to help achieve this, and an important part of this process is gathering the views of the community. So the popular Nottinghamshire tourist attraction is giving us chance to have our say NOW to help shape its future plans in the form of a ten minute online survey – which can be accessed via the link below: http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/3F4UH/ The survey needs to be filled in by Monday the 14th of…

Next month Ruddington’s James Peacock School marks its 50th anniversary of moving to its current location in Manor Park. The new buildings replaced the original “free school” built in 1875 on the corner of Asher Lane and The Green (now Adlard Print) that had become too small for our growing village. To celebrate its half century the school is holding a “Community Celebration Day” on Saturday the 30th of September between 1pm and 5pm. Ruddington Local History Society is supporting James Peacock School by researching its past in order to put up a display at the event. So they would love to hear…

The installation of Ruddington’s smart new boundary signs, beside the main roads at the five gateways to our village, was completed today. Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) funded and commissioned the signposts to be created by Ruddington-based graphic design agency WigWag. They were then produced by specialist firm Signs of the Times in Leighton Buzzard and put into place today by RM Installations. They brand Ruddington as “The Museums Village” but haven’t replaced the existing signs, which are owned by Nottinghamshire County Council. Instead RPC says they “play a different role by celebrating our culture and heritage”. The bold, watercolour artwork features the Framework Knitters’ Museum and Village Museum buildings, along with…

The 30-metre structure will one day carry Great Central Railway trains over the Midland Main Line and should be in place by late autumn this year. Contractors are now preparing the ground for…

Back in January we reported that Ruddington is to get brand new boundary signs beside the main roads at the five gateways to our village. After slight delays in their manufacture Ruddington Parish Council (RPC), who commissioned and funded them, has announced that they are now ready and are due to be installed next week (w/c 17th July). However the new signs won’t replace the existing ones, which are owned by Nottinghamshire County Council. Instead RPC says they will “play a different role by celebrating our culture and heritage”. Created by Ruddington-based graphic design agency WigWag and produced by specialist firm Signs of…

It’s been announced that another milestone will be reached this summer with the publication of the final Ruddington Village Plan – your vision for how our village should develop over the next 5 to 10 years. Originally begun in 2013, the Village Plan has been painstakingly formulated by an independent steering group made up of around twenty volunteers who live and/or work in Ruddington alongside up to three Ruddington Parish Council representatives. Supported throughout the process by staff from Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire, it’s been created based on the issues and concerns that were raised by a detailed questionnaire delivered to all village households…
