Nottinghamshire Police are investigating after a disturbance in Ruddington this week during which it’s alleged two teenage boys chased and menaced two girls with a knife. A Ruddington mum, who prefers not to be named, reported the incident at St Mary’s Community Park to police, and also posted this warning on Facebook: “My oldest daughter was on the park with her friend after school and two young boys chased after them and pulled a knife on them. The boys are about 14-15 years old. Just keep a eye out!” Subsequently she…

Proud At James Peacock’s!
Ahead of Ruddington’s two schools breaking up for Christmas this week, parents of pupils at one of them had chance to go along and admire their children’s seasonal artwork. Many village mums and dads took their opportunity to visit James Peacock Infant & Nursery School in Manor Park on Monday (19th December) to discover what their sons and daughters had created; with just a little help from the staff. “We are so proud of our incredible children in Foundation 2 for putting on a fabulous ‘Winter Wonderland’ art exhibition this week!”…

Villagers certainly seemed to have pulled out all the stops this year to get into the festive spirit – with properties throughout Ruddington adorned with colourful lights and decorations ready to guide in Santa and his reindeer on the big day. Their efforts are being applauded by The Friends of James Peacock Junior School who’ve created a brand new ‘Christmas Light Trail’ running between now and 4th January 2023. It’s been confirmed a Ruddington community venture which started over the summer, offering a chef-prepared, two-course lunch for just £1, will continue into next year – and also increase the number of diners it can accommodate. The twice monthly ‘Heat ‘n’ Eat’ meals, comprising good quality and wholesome, hot food, began at the end of June 2022. They are served-up in the peaceful and welcoming surroundings of St Peter’s Church. As the bitter winter weather bites, the venue has also become one of the ‘Warm Spaces’ in Ruddington where villagers struggling to heat…

The retail area of one of Ruddington’s top tourist attractions has been transformed this week thanks to a significant cash boost. We reported in October how £8,335 had been awarded towards The Framework Knitter’s Museum‘s ‘Shop Improvement Project’ through the Museum Development East Midlands (MDEM)’s Recovery and Reboot Grants. This also included core funding and a donation from ‘The Friends of the Ruddington Framework Knitters’ Museum’. It’s involved the installation of a reception desk for ‘point of sale’ alongside extensive new display cabinets and shelving in ‘Parker’s Yard’ – which sits within the former…

Ruddington residents in privately rented accommodation are being encouraged to complete a short, anonymous online survey on their living conditions and alert our local authority if living in a property with significant damp or mould problems. The survey is being carried out by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to find out how prevalent the issues are in privately rented houses within our village and across the wider area. It says the results could help shape the way it works with landlords and tenants to manage the risks they can cause. The…

Ruddington’s community spirit is shining brightly this festive season, with another village initiative launched this week to help cash-strapped families and individuals cope with the spiralling cost of… virtually everything! Called ‘Pay What You Can’, it’s the idea of village centre trader Sarah Burton (pictured) from Phoenix Flowers. She explains: “With the cost of living, and Christmas coming up, I know a lot of families must be stressed and struggling right now. I was going through some bits to donate to charity the other day but had an idea… what if we…

After the ‘lockdown’ Christmas of 2020, and the rather restrained festive season of 2021, Ruddington’s celebrations in 2022 look as if they might just be the biggest and best ever! That’s certainly the case for this weekend’s ‘Ruddington Christmas Market’ (on Saturday December 3rd) which, as previously reported, will comprise over a hundred indoor and outdoor stalls of food, drink and gifts, two covered pop-up bars and stages of live music, and children’s activities. Now organised by Ruddington Village Community Partnership (RVCP) it will take place along both High Street and Church Street (road closures…
